I woke up in a complete daze - note to self - don't mix beer and ganja, i only had 4 or 5 pints but was hammered. I noticed it was 11.30 and i should have checked out a 11 - a quick shower and pack my bags - by the time I left it was 12.30 but the guy at rookies hotel didn't seem to mind at all. Whilst sorting through my things i realised that in the midst of the haze that was last night i must have lost the coffeeshop map. My flight wasn't till 9.40pm so i left my bag there and off i went into the rain. After finishing off the rest of the Afghan downstairs - not a bad smoke but nothing special really, I started with an English breakfast from the Irish pub on the Leidesplein - not bad but the bacon was more like pastrami, nice cuppa tea though. My oro=iginal plan was to head over to Stix to get some Temple Balls but mapless I didn't fancy my chances of finding it so I played it safe and jumped onto a tram and went to Dampkring. It was pretty full but I found a stool by the window and got another cuppa tea. I wandered over to the budtender and asked what was good and he recommemnded Algeria. This was quite a nice smoke, fairly strong and tasty too. After spending some time in Dampkring chatting to an old Dutch guy and a young Canadian woman, I set off once again. After wandering aimlessly for a while I entered a coffeeshop called Sheeba, one i'd not been in before. I got a drink and bought half a gram of pollen. Sheeba was a nice chilled out relaxing coffeeshop with light ambient music and a nice vibe. The Pollen was quite creamy and tasty and mixed well with the Algeria in one mighty cocktail that had me couch-locked for a while.

I then headed back to Rookies to pick up my bag and I booked the room for my visit larte November - early December. Really recommend Rookies hotel and the coffeeshop and restaurant are good too. My tradition for some years on trips to the Netherlands has always been to have one last smoke at Rastababy. It's near Central station so you can walk to catch the train after, you can sit outside of its hot and they have a nice conservatory area if its not. I don't buy bud there though cause its a bit costly and not the best. So I jumped off the tram on my way to Rastababy but there were two guys on ladders in the conservatory, clearly drilling and fixing something - not the laid-back vibe i was looking for on my last Dam smoke so i broke an age-old tradition and walked on by.

After walking a little while, not only was I drenched but i realised time was of the essence so I just dived into the nearest c-shop which happened to be Dampkring 2 (formerly Pink Floyd) I bought half a gram of something (can't remember what) and had one last spliff with the last bit of algeria and this new stuff. Dampkring 2 seemed a nice enough smoking environment but i didn't have time to hang around so off to Central Station it was and then on to Schiphol.

I found my check in area and put my passport into the machine and it printed out what i htought was my boarding card - all to plan i thought. On closer inspection the piece of card i had in my hand said "Unable to check in, please report to KLM service desk" What! so i went over to the desk and the woman said, calm as you like "You don't have seat on thee plane, you're a stand-by passenger" I couldn't believe it, when i asked why she said they had overbooked the flight. She told me to go to the gate anyway and report to the stewardess there. I did this - i was kinda fuming but was so stoned i was unable to get proper annoyed - a strange kinda feeling really! When i got to the gate i gave my card to the woman and she put in at the bottom of a set of 5 other stand-by passengers and told me to take a seat.

Whilst the thought of an extra day in the Dam was kinda nice I had to get back for all kinds reasons. So I was chuffed when after all the other passengers had boarded she read out my name and i got on the flight, albeit in a middle seat between a 54-stone woman and a proper smelly businessman - made it home all the same.

Best Bud - Algeria (Dampkring)
Best C-Shop - Sheeba[/b]

Thanks for the report. Im interested in making it to Dampkring 2 on my next trip back...I never liked Pink Floyd and sure not much has changed but maybe im biased and a name change is what i need. Getting thrown on standby sucks but atleast you made it back with little delay.

The new Floyd sounds absolutly awesome. I never bought anything from there on prev visits but I think it will be my main place this time round. Really nice vibe in there, love sitting up there on the balcony with a backroled Super Silver Haze joint.

I'll be there a week on Tuesday, can't come a moment too soon. This is a little treat to myself for putting up with a fairly shonky job for the last 4 months, that first Joint is goign to taste sswweeet!!
