Ok, just waiting for the wife to shower and we're heading over to Betty's for our morning coffee...Last day, we leave for Schipol in 3 1/2 hours :( so we're a wee bit behind (hoping to meet Skars for a quick session @ Betty's) and more than a wee bit BURNT  We haven't smoked yet and if I didn't have remnants of 4 herbs & 3 hashes I'd probably just sip coffee and pass altogether but you know what they say: wasted not, wanted not!

Alright, let me bust out a review of our last full day here...
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2007
At this mornings coffee/juice/smoke session at Betty's we must have shown signs of wear & tear 'cause our buddy essentially said "you guys look like shit!". We laid low, sipped coffee & juice and chatted but nothing REAL extensive. We've been hanging there daily so now we have that comfortable silence thing going on so we mostly sit, sip, toke. After our wake up to bake up we head out to finish t-shirt purchases, gifts for home and hit the Mellow to (hopefully) sample some trainwreck and get Sh@dy some orange haze confirmation!

This time we get out to the mellow without issue and notice straight off that EVERYTHING is available on the menu! All the items blocked off last week were readily available (cherry pez, blueberry ice etc.) but we went STRAIGHT to the scene of the accident with TRAINWRECK. The tender warned us and showed us...ALL shake! Fuck it , we thought, it STILL is trainwreck and we picked up a g of that and a g of CHERRY PEZ. The wreck tasted STRONG right off, giving us that nice lung hit and sending us off with a skip in our step heading towards the centrum. The pez was a bright green with not a hint of any other color and a delish cherry taste. Like all product at the mellow, it was VERY top notch!

Blue t-shirt in hand we make our way back and eventually wind up back at softland to pick up one of their t's and a tad more King Hassan to toke on back at the room. Our buddy-tender is in and we're greeted to bright smiles and handshakes. I have my camera and ask to take a pic of the menu "no problem!" he says and before I know it he's handed me the jar of diesel and the jar of smurf and taken the camera, snapping shots of me and crazy buds! Of course I have to ask...can I take a pic with the KING? He hands me BOTH bags, each with an x-large candybar size piece of the king (yeah, I'll post the pics!) Now we sit down to roll a hasj j and I notice that it's a good hour after the mellow and I'm still REALLY stoned from that Wreck! WOW, what are the full buds like???

We spend the rest of the afternoon snapping pics, munching and getting baked - stoppng at our favorite food stops including wok to walk for lunch, picking up little gifts for friends at home and the like. Early evening we wound up back in the Haarlamstraat area for last minute buddage, stopping first for a t-shirt at BARNEY'S and a g of G-13 for about 12 e/g. Now Barney's gear has been TOP, TOP NOTCH. Especially the bud, VERY well cured, diamond like reflections of resin and a lung sting that's excellent and this bud is no exception.

Heading back we see our friend Attilla behind the counter at POPEYE'S so we stop in for another g of Alladin and even more bud. We picked up WHITE SHARK at about 10 e/g - VERY nice, not quite as good as their pink kush but excellent! I snap a photo of the menu and of Attilla slicing a nice chunk of hasj. About 15 or 20 minutes later Attilla approaches us with pipe in hand - "try this, pollinator hash - it's from a grower friend and better than anything in a coffeeshop". I took my first hit and felt my body get all warm & tingly - a most comforting feel for sure on a somewhat rainy & cool evening and the wife & I smoked the pipe for a good 20 minutes longer, feeling COMPLETELY wasted and grateful for the hook-up!

So now our biggest dliemma of the trip is which shop was the friendliest? We're torn between Betty's, Popeye's and Softland as to which shop we'd essentially be living in if we were lucky enough to reside here!

In bed by 1am and back up by 7:45, the wife is slowly recuperating so I'm hoping to catch skars for a session before we head home.

Thanks guys, I'll wrap up posting and try to have some pics ready as well.

Thanks Philly! I didn't notice if the maroc ice was on katsu's menu or not. Katsu is ALSO worth checking out (although one hell of a walk to the pijp!)

Hey gang, we're back at home but still on 'dutch' time so I'm wrapping up the trip report at 5:30am Wednesday! We arrived home yesterday and could little more than greet our beloved pets and crash on our couch. No smoking, please! But now we've got the bong out, coffee & juice and I'm ready to go...

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2007
We wake later than we hoped (closer to 8am than 7am) and the wife had to lay back down before we even started sessioning! The CrAzY smoking we've done has caught up to us and I'm showing allergy/cold signs with a runny nose & eyes and we're both pretty much ready to go home. We spark up & head over to Betty's late at about quarter of 10 for our usual coffee & juice. We snap pics from inside Betty's, smoking some leftover g-13 and we're back to the apartment to waste time and brain cells.

We roll up the last of our Hassan, sit, smoke, and just wait. We head off to the airport and say goodbye to our favorite, littlest-big town in the world!

THE BIG WRAP UP!
As you all know by now, the wife and I had a most magnificent visit - the BEST in 7 trips over the past 10 years for sure and we're ready to return as early as January and no later than March. We were NEVER required to make a smoke purchase at ANY shop - Betty's, Ben, Popeye's, Softland and even Greenhouse Centrum let us purchase smoke, sit & toke and NOT purchase a bevvy! The only tourist bigotry we experienced was at de Overkant and, all things considered, we STILL got some of the best 'ghani hasj at stupidly low prices. Some surprises...Popeye's, Softland and Betty Boops of course but the Grey Area REALLY lived up to its hype, the Greenhouse the same, Barney's is now on my FAVORITE list instead of my most over-rated list and the disapointments included the town of Haarlem (lol) but more specifically the Willie's at the train station (no more joints in the coin op snack machine, no gum ball hash machines, not the biggest or most impressive selection) and, well...that's about it. I felt bad almost neglecting the Tweede (and all Dampkring shops). The rifman WAS amazing (we tried 3 or 'em) but I thought the Bushdr's mexi maroc far superior and the Hassan my overall favorite (although bang for buck you can NOT go wrong with mexi maroc).

THE AWARDS CEREMONY
It just wouldn't be a vacation to a'dam if I didn't put together a 'best of ' list. I think I have them for nearly every trip we've taken. The wife's beside me, so here they are, in no particular order:

BEST SMOKE
Mothers Finest...GREY AREA
Orange Haze...MELLOW YELLOW
Pink Kush...POPEYE'S

BEST HASJ
King Hassan...SOFTLAND
Mexic-Maroc Ice...BUSHDOCTOR
Jelly...BUSHDOCTOR

BEST SHOP (overall)
Popeye's
Betty Boop
Softland 1

BEST HASJ SHOP
Bushdoctor

BEST HERB SHOP
Grey Area

I'll post pics next but that's about it for now. Thank you EVERYBODY for reading, responding, suggesting and all of your overall goodwill!

Looking forward to reading the next trip reports!!!

Nice to know you liked the Mothers Finest, I only ever had it from Tweede Kamer, but it gives me hope that it's of the same quality at Grey Area.

Nice trip reporting. It makes my 300 day all the more tough. Anyway, just wondering, how do you roll a hash joint? With weed, with tobacco? Please clue me in. Thanks.

Thanks g-dead...our hasj joints are STRICTLY tobac mix (american spirits, yellow pack) rolled in the spliff style w/cardboard filter! The wife quit smoking about 8 years ago and I've NEVER smoked butts but for some reason it's the ONLY way we like to smoke hasj (and we DID try mixing it with herb and straight from a pipe this trip out).

Hey Skars...I didn't even THINK about that 2nd Betty's! D'oh!

Pics should be posted tonight...
