Greetings from Austin, TX!

Post by sliderd »

Hello gang!

Nice to see the forum back up as I have been scouring the site for information about my upcoming trip but now I can ask questions!

Background on trip: In Amsterdam for the first time from 18/04/08 to 22/04/08 (then off to Paris for 3 days before returning home--we will regret leaving). The "excuse" for being in Amsterdam is to see Armin Van Buuren @ Jaarbeurs in Utrecht on 19/04/08 thru the night.

Questions:
- Jaarbeurs is not tolerant of soft drugs with comments of confiscation and/or fines. Any recommendations on how to deal with this? Eat a bunch of longer release time cakes?

As for shops to hit:
- Grey Area, De Kuil, T. K., Dampkring, Greenhouse *
- Then a ton more on the map to wander in based on ratings from the ACD trying to find the right "vibe".

It would be very cool to catch up with some Dam veterans from ACD...let me know if anyone is interested. I see the 420 Cafe on 20/04/08 plans--TOO COOL. Maybe a little shop crawl...

JF

I have posted you on the April Whos In Town page. Have a wonderful trip.

As a first timer to Amsterdam, may I suggest you read and heed S G Collins excellent intro to Amsterdam.

How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam.

I think you will find it an informative read.

Austin is a great city I've been fortunate to visit on a few occasions. Fond memories of Emo's, Stubb's and Broken Spoke and SXSW. Fun city and cool people.
