Myself and four non-smokers took a day trip to the Dam from Brussels.
It was my fifth time so I knew exactly where I wanted to start and headed straight to the Grey Area (about 1.00pm) which had a queue out the door. My companions headed to a cafe nearby while I waited in line with a grin from ear to ear. When I was about third in line the really nice budtender who's name escapes me handed me a menu. I passed it on to whoever was next to me as I had spent much of the previous week drooling over various budshots and strain reviews and needed no further direction. As i had limited time I asked the budtender if he could give me half grams. He duly obliged and i sat down with 1/2 gm Chocolope and 1/2 gm of Sour Diesel.
I read a fairly trolly post on the forum saying that Grey Area was now full of brits smoking Cheese. While I wouldn't agree with the sentiment expressed by the poster there was no denying that the most obvious change in my favorite little coffeeshop was that it is now full of brits smoking cheese. When I was there there was group of about five who had pretty much taken over the place. One of them was getting a bit aggressive with someone who had borrowed his grinder and thinking that it was a shop grinder returned it to the counter after using it. Judging by their sniffling fits and constant red noses I would imagine that the sacred herb was not their only indulgence that week.
I rolled up the Chocolope and enjoyed a really terrific smoke. Very smooth and flavourful with a decent but not intergalactic high. While I was smoking another group of brits came in. One of them sat down at my table and we chatted for a while about Chocolope and the Diesel i had yet to try. In contrast these brits showed none of the aggression or anxiety of the others. These guys were chilled and knew their weed.
After I finished my joint I found my nonsmoking friends and we headed up to Centraal station to try out a cool restaurant on the top floor of a disused building that is closing down in a few months. The food was good and the views were amazing. Following the meal we went to the new library which was close by. I have never gone to a library while on holiday before but this place was amazing. Unlike Dublin (where I live), where the library is used by students and academics the new library in Amsterdam is used be everyone. It was very busy and has a nice but slightly expensive looking restaurant on the top floor with great views. The building looks amazing from the outside and even cooler on the inside. I'd imagine it must be what its like to live inside a macbook.
From here we headed to to the Anne Frank Huis. I decided not to smoke before I went in. It was a good tour although the queue is very long. It's not a very intimate tour as there are so many people going through it but it leaves a strong impression.
After the Anne Frank Huis my girlfriend and I broke from the pack and headed to Abraxas. She doesn't smoke but unlike the others in our group she likes coffeeshops. There I had a milkshake (not 'spaced up') and rolled the diesel. It gave me serious motor skills issues which I enjoy quite a lot even though I was falling all over the place. I like it as a smoke but It's the kind of herb I'd rather smoke at home rather than in a busy coffeeshop like abraxas. I picked up a gram of Nepal Creme (€14.00!) and went for some tapas with the others. After dinner we picked up the car and headed back to Brussels. The trip was good but way to short.

I'm English, and certainly try to be in the seconmd group of smokers. However, if I was stoned and someone tried to fuck off with my SpaceCase (30E grinder) I'd get annoyed... I've had this happen once, someone picks up your grinder/ asks to use it. It goes round him and his mates as they grind their grass, and seems to disappear. Now you politely ask for it back, but if its nowhere to be seen, I'm gonna make a scene. Is that wrong of me?rks0 wrote:Nice report mate.
I'm there in May, and intend on trying out some of the Cheese at Grey Area.
Being a Brit, I aim to emulate the latter group you met!
Whats the big deal with cheese? I've smoked a few types (including grey areas), and while the taste is ok it all seems similar to cheap London skunk(indica).
