Amsterdam's towers
From April 1 2008 the towers of Amsterdam’s Westerkerk and Zuiderkerk can be climbed once again, every day of the week except Sundays.
The towers afford stunning views across the ancient city centre, each with a charm of its own. The Westertoren is an ideal vantage point from which to look out over the roofs of the Jordaan district and the ancient city centre, while the Zuidertoren provides a good view across the Amstel and the Nieuwmarkt district. Climbers who make it to the top of the Oudekerkstoren will be treated to a stunning view across the medieval part of Amsterdam and the red-light district. Every half hour there are guided tours for groups of at most five persons; the tours cost € 6 per person.
The Westertoren can be climbed until 31 October, from 10:00 until 17:30. The Zuidertoren (12-16:00) will be accessible to the public until 30 September. The Oudekerkstoren can be climbed as well, but only on Saturdays and Sundays (13-17:00), also until 30 September.
Tours can also be arranged outside the towers’ opening hours; call +31 (0)20 – 689 25 65 or contact anna@buscher-malocca.nl.
- Westertoren, Prinsengracht 281
- Zuidertoren, Zuiderkerkhof 72
