Amsterdam Coffeeshop News

Post by itsmymagicallife »

Homegrown Fantasy Coffeeshop has let it be known that it will close no later than March 31, 2009. Their landlord gave them one year notice that their 20 year lease will not be renewed. And it seems very unlikely that the building owners want any coffeeshop in their building.

A little better news is that where Global Chillage Coffeeshop was located, a new coffeeshop has opened called The Happy Feeling.

And the news on La Canna Coffeeshop is that it is remodeling and will re-open sometime.

Another one bites the dust.... real shame as I've grown to love HGF, especially their Amazing Haze (if its still on the menu?). I'll be sure to pay them a visit at 420 just in case I dont make it back in time.

That's very sad  , Homegrown has been a favourite of mine for many years. An even bigger loss than the Chai Shop. Will have to go and have a smoke out there over 420 weekend.

Thank you for the coffeeshops update, itsmymagicallife! I had heard about Homegrown Fantasy closing. Sad! I really liked this shop. This shop had the original cheese a few years back. It was awesome!

I did notice in my travels that Global Chillage was closed down. Glad there is another one open in it's place.

La Canna?! One of the worst touristy coffeeshops Ive ever had the unpleasure of going into.
Peace all.

Have never personally used hgf , but all the same that is a blow.

seems like a similar situation to the nes, where the building owner now has his cake, and can now cherry pick who he leases to.

I hope somehow la canna can maybe incorporate a bar section in its remodeling, it would be a plus in a coffeeshop with many minuses. since the alcohol ban, i cant dive in for a few beers and a blaze while my gf is in the surrounding shoe shops.

Right around the corner next to 420 coffeeshop is a bar that let's you smoke cannabis. At least until June 30, 2008 when the tobacco ban comes into effect.
