I was hoping to visit this year during the cannabis cup. I only know a few bits about it. Is there anyone out there who has been, who can put me straight?
I have heard that you get a card and then score the smoke/shops etc.
I heard a rumour that the cards were expensive.
If this proves so I'll just go earlier in the year (mmmm can I wait for November

)
Also there seems to be events happening, do ya need the card to get in and are they well advertised etc ? I would hate to get there and not know where its all happening.
So any info would be welcome

All things Cannabiscup Related.
You can usually buy day passes for the events you want to go to so an overall judges pass isn't necessary unless you just want the experience.
I was a judge in 95, the planning and execution were piss poor. From what I have heard it hasn't improved. In my case the one time I did it, the one incident that made it worth the money to me was teaching a couple Japanese guys how to do hash under glass on the counter at Melkweg.
Enjoy

Its a ripoff. You pay 200 Euros to "judge" the weed and vote for the winner in various catagories. You still have to pay for the weed you smoke, and lots of shops put their prices up for the cup. Go a different time of year (its great in summer) and spend the CC pass money on extra weed.

I was lucky enough to go the week after the cup last year and had a great time. What I was told by most of the budtenders was that the week of the cup all the shops were jam packed,and just a plain madhouse. So if you want a lot of other people to mingle with and a lot of party's it would be the time to go. On the other hand,the week after was fantastic for me. Far less crowds everywhere( one afternoon I went to the Grey Area around 2 p.m. and was the only one in there for a good 40 minutes. The same thing happened at The Noon) and all of the the winning cup entry's were not a problem to get. So if you still want to get your choice of the cup winners and no crowds plan your trip the week after. I know I am already looking at hotels for that week again this year.

From what I can tell its a complete ripoff.
Its hard for me to go that week as its Thanksgiving week in the U.S. I went a couple of times the week after, tried all the winners in peace, and had a great time.
