Got into town WAY too early; 730am. I asked at my hotel, the Rokin, if they'd keep my bag until checkin, but they just let me have the room then. Very cool!
First stop was the Abraxas off Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. I asked the budtender to recommend a nice starter bud, and he recommended the G13 X Hash Plant. A nice smoke, but kinda heavy for so early in the morning.
That night, on the way to the Nes Cafe, stopped by Kadinsky and picked up some White Widow. This was a pretty good smoke to chill and have a beer with, but I wouldn't go searching it out. It was also the second smoke to have that "soapy" flavor to it. I wish this pheno'd go away. Nothing wrong with the high, but it tastes like I stored my gear in the medicine cabinet or something. There was a miscommunication with the bartender at the Nes, so I never got to meetup with the people from the forum.
Started the next morning off at Barneys; I asked the budtender to recommend a sativa to start the day off with. Surprisingly, he suggested the Laughing Buddha. It only cost 11.5, which is cheap for Barney's. A very mild flavored bud, but it had a great "let's go do something" buzz, and I finished this stuff before anything else. Kudos the budtender for suggesting quality and not just trying to sell me the most expensive stuff.
"Barney's Uptown" next door was empty except for one couple. Nice looking place, and the Irish breakfast was still too big to finish. Very annoying music, though. Soundtrack to Evita followed by the background music to Roadrunner and Coyote cartoons. I left very quickly after eating.
That afternoon, stopped by Gray Area, and it was packed with Dutch customers in line. Funny, everyone pegs this as an American cs, but there were only 2 of us there. Still, even with the humongous line, the budtender didn't try to rush anyone. Took the time to answer any questions and let you inspect the buds. I was torn between Yellow Cab and Pink Kush, but finally went with the Kush. Not the bell-ringing stone it looked like it would be, but fair.
Next day I picked up some John Sinclair at Dampkring. A long lasting hazey kinda high to it, but was a little to heartpounding and anxious for my liking.
I moved over to the Rookies Hotel that day, and the receptionist is a really funny guy who lets you know right off the bat he expects you to smoke in the rooms. They have a wood deck on the roof that you can smoke and chill on which I enjoyed. Lotsa plants and garden gnomes up there.
Rookies' Fantasia 2 was a let down. I smoked a couple bowls of it and just picked up a pure prerolled NL#5 instead. It was a much better high.
Next morning at 6am walked from Rookies to Centraal Station with all my bags. Had a major revelation that I'm a lazy ass and didn't like doing it. 'm already making plans for next time, but am really looking for some shoes that don't tear up my feet on the streets there.
