Amsterdam World Book Capital

Amsterdam World Book Capital

Amsterdam has been a centre of literature for centuries. Writers, editors, publishers and thinkers have enjoyed the freedom of expression and open dialogue this city embraces.

This year UNESCO has proclaimed Amsterdam ‘World Book Capital’. From 23 April 2008 until 22 April 2009 a variety of literary and cultural activities will take place, including events at the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and the Vondelpark. There will be a spectacular 'Sail' opening event, a boat parade through the canals of Amsterdam, and a literary festival in the new library on the IJ.

We planned on hitting the Spui book market, as well as the book shops near Rusland.
