just got back from a 3 day trip to dam.we were very exited at the prospect of gettin off our face on what should be the worlds finest quality weed.in the 3 days we visited 15 coffee shops in the relentless search for quality weed.
we must have spent £150 on weed of all calibres and ive got to say we wasted our money.the weed was very clean and smelled and tasted lovely but we could not get stoned at all! we both agreed we,d had better quality weed in the uk.
is the weed they sell in the coffee shops weakened in strength for the purpose of tourists?
also the weed was ridiculously expensive.we get 3.5 grams for £20 in the uk and its top quality.
we would both go to dam again but if we do we,re bringin our own weed!
sorry for the bad reveiw but i felt i had to say my piece.

So weed is better and cheaper in Manchester?
You couldn't get stoned at all. In Amsterdam.

shops visited=rasta baby,route 99,central,blues brothers,concious dreams and others.
weed bought=northern lights,blueberry,temple ball,plus many others.
on the last day we went into central and told the dealer the score.he gave us a bag of his personal weed for 12.50euro and he said if this doesnt put you on your arse, give up smokin!
we chonged the lot in half an hour and still walked to the ferry str8!
we took a quarter of solid on the feryy from newcastle and had all the crew laughin their socks off.and we didnt get stopped at any customs.you can bring what you want back if you feel its worth it.

haha, you felt for the tourist-traps
if you would have bought weed at the good shops like Mellow Yellow,Noon,Dampkring and so on you would have not said that. The weed many of the shops you listed is usual weed, good, dry and so on, but nothing special. next time you go, visit the places recommended here and buy some nice Haze-sorts or something.

Actually, I take back my earlier snarkiness, I thought klitwestwood was just trolling, but that's what ACD is all about, sharing the knowledge around. Before t'Internet it was a total lottery for me too, and if klit sticks around he/she will notice a big difference next time they go to Dam clutching a long list of winners. Apologies and welcome klit.
For a good cheap starter, follow Boner's advice and try the Orange Bud from Basjoe's - €7/g, strong, stony weed. The strongest thing I've ever smoked is Moonshine and/or Waterworks hash from Dampkring/Tweede Kamer (€20-50/g, but you don't need much!). Grey Area's mid-price menu is very good value and quality. There's loads more, just read the recent trip reports.

I will have to take this sentence back as well: "haha, you felt for the tourist-traps

" and change it into:
Damn, you fell for the tourist-traps
next time really try the shops that many here did good experiences with

I agree with s@ady , although the quality has gone down in Amsterdam in the last years. If you want to find the best quality you must go in right places and take the best quality available perhaps asking advice to the seller.
However, if you wanted you'd rip yourself when you want in Amsterdam,if you are not able to find satisfactory varieties, you should have a bit of fantasy and mix up some ice in the joints ...
If you want you can still have fun in Amsterdam in the coffeeshops

cheers for the advice lads.i thought we had done somat wrong but how were we to know.weed should be the same quality in every shop in our opinion.still its a lovely city and the pastries were dam good.lol.plenty of talent too but it was all on bikes so we couldnt catch it.lol
we will go again and try again.we were just so dissapointed at spendin all that money when we could have bought better at home.
the smothies were lovely too.

mate - the weed is not the same in every shop. each strain is different, and each batch of each strain will come out different. there are about a million different possible things that will effect the smoke. buy from a reputable shop and you'll be alright.
rasta baby, route 99,central,blues brothers, concious dreams - all tourist traps to be avoided.
next time try: GREY AREA, DE DAMKRING OR TWEEDE KAMER, DE ROKERIJ, MELLOW YELLOW OR NOON, ANYDAY, KATSU.....

He needs to go to Grey Area, buy an eighth of the best stuff on the menu, and smoke it ALL through a glass BONG. In one sitting.
If he still doesn't get high, I'm going to Manchester for my next trip.

my fist couple of times i wasted loads of cash in CSs on poor Bud. I think everyone does first time. But i still came back for more. Now i keep a small list in my head of the Better shops ,get supplies from these then visit coffeshops i have not been 2 yet. That way you always have a good stash you can turn to. All the crappy weed i get goes in a pure one with a nice sprinkling of Iceolator. That way it will taste alot better and deffo get you stoned.

Just to mention it:
Blues Brothers is no 100% tourist rip off. When we went there last summer we bought some great Mango for just 7,2€ very fruity and some good Sour Diesel a bit too expensive 12€ but still very good.....blues brothers is a cool hangout and the weed is good as well in my opinion.
