Going to Amsterdam alone

I will be going to Amsterdam alone in 2 weeks time, i went for the first time 2 weeks ago with a friend. Whats it like being there alone, is it easy to meet people, do you get many people smoking alone in coffeeshops, seems sad i know, but i wana visit the places(ok, coffeeshops and strains) that i missed out on last time. This time i have a plan to start from the south eg Yellow Mellow and Noon, then go a bit north and then turn west into Grey area etc.

I would do it the other way round, but ok

should be very easy to meet people in a coffeeshop......think about it, they are all there for the same reason as you

I often go alone and love it. You can always find someone to have a chat with. But i would take an mp3 for the trips between shops.

I've been lots of times on my own and in some ways enjoy it even more

I do find going to restaurants on my own a bit weird though, so tend to just eat takeaway etc

I suppose it depends how much you like your own company!

Been on my own 6 times in total. No problem what so ever. Meeting people aint hard, but you cant beat your own company some times, if ya know what i mean? You'll have a blast mate. Im going again on july 7th - solo. I cant wait. Have fun.

just do it....but the mp3 is a good idea....your going to meet some of the most interesting people about AND they'renot going to look down their noses cos you toke.....it's a blast

If you stay at a hostel, you'll meet people. I'd rather toke alone then drink alone.

The way I see it is it's better to go alone that to not go at all. I have been solo 3 times and although on occasions I did wish to share a laugh with a friend I have never felt lonely as there is almost always someone to talk to. I also found that I tend to talk to the staff in the coffeeshops a lot more which can be interesting and makes the visits very friendly. But I usually end up chatting to someone for a while somewhere anyway.

Bringing an mp3 player is always good for me as I enjoy my music, and I like to carry a pen and notebook as I like writing various things for fun. As for the route, I personally like to walk towards the Vondelpark (especially in the sun) and make various stop offs on the way, but that is totally up to you.

I was over in Amsterdam alone 10 days ago and it was a fantastic time. No one but yourself to worry about, no plans, sit and chill where you want ect. Pink Floyd "The Wall" on the mp3 player. Stoned, walking from the funfair in Dam Sq to Vondel Park took about 3 hours but was just fantastic.

I'm sure you will enjoy yourself.

I have been alone many times and there is always someone to talk to...with that said you are never really alone...that very stoned person inside your head is always present
