Ah Dave, me old mate. How's it going?

Okay so maybe I've been taken advantage of at times and I seriously don't doubt that the real deal Spock thing would have seriously glued me to the floor.

I would imagine that some shop staff will behave in the manner suggested by myself. Somebody will ask for the good stuff, without knowing what it looks like, and actually be sold the bottom of the range stuff but for the same price as the good stuff (Gets the crap that nobody buys out of the way and puts a few extra Euros in the till.

Has to happen. Especially with tourists. I mean, what are they going to do about it? For every tourist who knows what they are talking about, there is another one who doesn't.

I am in no way suggesting in any way that this sort of sales technique is practised in Nes-Cafe, which is a great little place and a pint is 2 Euros cheaper than most other places (especially those in the vicinity of Dam Square and Nes-Cafe)

Yeah, but then in that case it's that specific dealer that's pulling the con and pocketing the extra money made. Otherwise the whole shop is corrupt and faking their books, because when the police come in, and they do...atleast once a year for everybody.... they bring the tax boys with them....and if yer weed books dont tally up stock and profit, yer fukt. So, the way to get round it is sell shit weed at high prices, which, lots of shops do.....but we all know that already.

What's being said here is a customer asked for strong and was reccomended down, done by any dealer it show's thought about the sale and specificly the customers well being. It's the way some of us like to work but in relation to the Nes and the Cheerybomb it might just have been because we all like something else better. 8) In relation to yerself though, I don't think you were taken advantage of as such. You built yer list from the reccomendations of 'regular' smokers on this site before ya came to Amsterdam, then went out and got most of it on yer first day. So then ya had a load of weed ya felt ya HAD to smoke whether it fuks ya up or not, because you'd already bought it. If you'd have came straight out of central and into the Nes, asked me for 5 grams of anything.....the first thing I'd have said is 'are ya mad?' But only because I think it's crazy to do that here......and I'd have got a good idea from talking to ya, as I did, that it wasn't a good idea for you.....much like the spock joint!

Doog how does a coffeeshop know who they are selling to? It could be a reporter from a magazine like High Times or Weed World, wouldn't look too good would it?

I'm just suggesting that it happens (Hey, even got DC on my side with it  ). Obviously it doesn't happen for every single sale but I'm sure the dealers know who to look for coming into the shop.

Hey, guys who spot it might not come back, but like i said before for every person who knows what they are talking about, there is another who doesn't.

You see I just dont agree with this, yes there are some people who go to Amsterdam and haven't a clue about marijuana but I would think that the majority of the cannabis tourists have some experiance.

I personally think it shows the mark of a good shop, not wanting to kill your customers. I look too young to be considered a regular smoker by most coffeshops I think, although I didn't really experience it in Nes, but I think it's because Simon recognised me from the past couple of trips . Grey Area always seems to recommend Yellow Cab first off, but if you ask for anything else then they don't put you off.

We've drifted off topic a little although keeping Nes in... I've not yet been to Nes Cafe.

With regard to the conversation about weed strength/quality. On my first visit I only bought from one shop, Greenhouse.

On my first of 3 nights I said I wanted to start easy, being a regular skunk smoker from the UK. I don't know what I bought, I didn't care... I left it all to the dealer. He pointed out from the menu what he would be a good smoke for me... he was spot on, next nightn same dealer, now I want to try something a little stroinger than what you suggest last night, and he did. Third nigh, yes, you guess it... Now having tried, that and that can you recomend something thats going to anilialate me... and gues what... Mr. Green took control  .

I was guided and I was happy... I see both points that have been raised and can agree partly with both of them.

Doog, you're spot on there. I've under no illusions that happens in some places.

But my point was the dealer wasn't trying to catch me out but didn't agree with my choice of weed at that particular moment and thought I should have tried something less potent, simular to what happened to Doc.

Anyway I think we can all agree Nes is a top CS. Athough I only visited once and late at night when I was a tad worse for wear. :?

I called into Nes last Monday evening and possibly the cheapest Beer I purchased in 'Dam. Very easy to find when you know where it is :? although, looking down the street from the top it does'nt look as though there is anything down there.
Not sure who I talked too behind the bar (DC?) He had shoulder length hair but I seem to recall somebody saying DC was not the hairy type  Very friendly atmosphere and I was quite surprised at how busy it was given it's hidden location.
Great tunes, I didn't sample the weed as i had already purchased plenty that day but I'm back at the end of this month and will sign the book. Hope to purchase one of DC's infamous glue your arse to the floor joints. :D :D

added Nes to my list of favorite CS's.
hard to beat for a place to have a great smoke and good beer and the pool table is awesome.
and if DC is there to host you then the whole experience should be tops.
(but the other two guys working there the second time i came were also friendly and cool.)

Just got back on Monday and I have to thank everyone at the Nes. We had a great time. We went there at least once a day. Got the Cherry Bomb there and it was fantastic. Beers are cheap and the staff is super friendly. I will definitely go back!
