6th Dam Trip Plans :D

Post by Prestoned »

Me and my mate just started looking into a trip for around the 20th June. Cant fly from Bournemouth anymore, used to be able to for about £40! So am having to Southampton at a cost of £115. Havent decided upon where to stay, maybe feeling a coffeeshop hotel :D Anything except The Bulldog. Non smoing rooms?! Fees if you smoke in room!? Pfft

Anyway shall post more detailed plans as and when. :D

Hey prestoned! I know what you mean about not being able to fly from Bournemouth - we used to go with Thomsonfly from there every time (1p flights each way!!!) so really disappointed that they stopped the route from Bournemouth. I even emailed Thomson to complain! It seems far too expensive to fly from Southampton with FlyBe, taxes and charges are much higher generally when flying from Southampton. The cheapest we could find for our trip in June was £60 with easyjet from Gatwick - although I am not looking forward to the trip up to Gatwick from the South Coast in time for the 6.25am flight!

Hey Prestoned....I just remembered about this post when I replied to another. Definitely sucks about the flights being canceled all together now, they were always pretty full when I went so must have been popular.

Not sure which airport will be easiest to access with public transport now but i'm sure that won't stop me from my regular trips in future.

On the hotel subject...have you booked anything yet??? I would recommend the Greenhouse Effect Hotel as I stayed there on 3 different occasions, a bit pricey compared to your average budget hotel but you get discount from the coffeeshop and it's a prime location (for me anyway) plus rooms you can smoke in.
Only thing is you have to book early I found as they are popular all year round.
