I've used this site for my last trip to amsterdam which took place last may. The reviews and information here were extremely useful and this time I am attempting to better prepare myself for this trip.
I've been to amsterdam twice, but the last trip was significantly more enjoyable then the first. I wanted to ask the input of the members here to ensure that this time around the trip trumps its prior versions.
1. I have stayed in the Bulldog hostel and the Heart of Amsterdam hostel. Both were nice and enjoyable, except the bulldog is more commercial and does not allow smoking in the room (it must be done in the lobby/lounge, or the roof terrace). The heart of amsterdam does allow it but is a bit lower quality. Do any of you have suggestions of fun hostels to stay in? I liked the location of both of these as they were close to the square.
2. What shops have the best bud this year? My favorite locations last year were The Greenhouse (near the square) which served my favorite type of the year, Arjuun Ultra Haze. I also went to the Grey Area, Baba's, Abraxas, and a couple of misc ones. My problem is i was never able to find the original barney's. Does anyone have suggestions of coffee shops I'm missing from this list? I don't really care for the shop environment as I am primarily seeking the strongest and the most potent stuff I can buy.
Packing a blunt with ultra haze sativa, ice-o-lator hash on top and then topped off with grey area crystals is amazing and I'm looking to find better.
3. Any advice on food? I've eaten the munchies on the small shops around town (mmmm shwarmas......) but I've never found food that made me go HOLY CRAP THATS AWESOME.
4. I'm staying for 5-7 days this time around and I'd like to explore more than I did last time. Any suggestions of where to go? I don't mean the usual spots, I've seen the tourist attractions and the Heineken factory. I'm looking to find a chill place to hang out or something unique to see.
5. How is the new coffee shop laws? I keep hearing different dates but I also heard of something changing July 1st. What do you guys think/know will happen that will affect my smoking experience in the dam?
6. Last but not least, will anyone be going there at the same time? I'll be with my brother, a friend from tokyo, and an old friend from Brazil. We're all students at different universities coming together in amsterdam for a single cause. To get nuked
