shops u must take off your hat
It doesnt really matter how you justify it to yourself, it is a rule in some shops and you must obbey the rules for the place to serve you. They are private businesses and are more than entitled to ask you to leave if you refuse to take off your hat. I don't really get all the fuss. Its a dress code. Same as no trainers in some bars and clubs etc...

Ok, so you can go to place where they make you take your hat off but you get a full menu of weed and hash.
And if you don't like that place, you can walk down the street to another place with another menu that probably has different stuff to try.
If they want my underwear, they can have it. Screw your hat.
Sorry to be crotchety (the stuff here is no where near A'dam's) but let's collectively get over this!!!

The Dutch aren't rude they are just very abrupt and it comes across that way especially if you aren't used to it.Umbyboy wrote:Honestly I found the way they told me to take my hat off rude..too RUDE!For that reason I just left Tweede Kamer after a second...I think that rules have to be respected but you should ask things gently cause I'm spending money in your coffeshop!

Boners right. They sure can seem rude and offensive, especially to people that are use the way it is in the usa and other "customer oriented" cultures.Boner wrote:The Dutch aren't rude they are just very abrupt and it comes across that way especially if you aren't used to it.
I have seen this happen in other shops as well and the people just walk out. The staff really dont give a shit if you stay or not. In Amsterdam, it seems, it's just one less customer they have to wait on. Obey the rules, be nice and all should be just fine. Peace n Pot
