You don't want to be caught twice.

Your passport will be marked and you can forget about ever traveling to the States.

As for posting it, so long as you keep it unobvious and anonymous even if it is picked up you won't be charged.

The Greenhouse Effect hotel is a great place to stay I think....although I not been in that exact room myself, I have stayed in the hotel on 3 different occasions and loved it every time.
