could anyone help? any information is greatly appriciated

Post by wiljm89 »

Hi all, i was wondering if anyone could help me as i am planning on moving to amsterdam for a working holiday and would love to work in a coffee shop. If anyone can help me get started or even point me in the direction of getting started it would be much appriciated. As im sure you all have a list, in your heads or on paper, of things you would like to do in your life this is one of mine and im sure you all understand.

cheers - Wil

Its one of my "dreams" as well ;)

First of all you need a working license and for that you need a residence. to get an appartment you need a visum, since you are not from an EU country.
To get a job in a coffeeshop you wont get around the "going around and ask" thing :)
But it is possible! We saw different shops I dont remember the name of, who were searching for people on our summer trip last year.

Wish you the best!

I've met several people from both Australia & New Zealand that have legal jobs in Amsterdam. So it can be done even in coffeeshops. Maybe you should contact the Netherlands embassy in Australia about what papers you would need first.

Most people I've known that want to work at a coffeeshop have just gone there to apply & leave their CV. No coffeeshop will hire you till you are in the Netherlands.
