Drugs Stolen From Tilburg Police Station

Confiscated cannabis has gone missing from a police station on the Willeminapark in Tilburg. A spokesman from justice has confirmed this to the ANP on Tuesday. He admitted that the drugs were kept longer than they should have been.
A 32 year old man from Geldrop is being held by police in connection with the theft. The police suspect that he was helped by police personnel, and a 30 year old officer from the Midden en West Brabant corps was arrested on March 4 on suspicion of participating in the theft. The woman officer from Eindhoven has been questioned numerous times but denies all knowledge of the theft according to her solicitor David Duijvelshoff. Since her arrest she has been suspended from duty.
Her solicitor says that all police officers have access to the stolen drugs. Justice say this is not the case and that the drugs were kept behind lock and key. Justice won’t say how much cannabis is involved but according to Duijvelshoff there were two bags full.
The theft was discovered on 22 October last year, the day of the theft is as yet unknown. Justice won’t say how long the cannabis was kept at the station but will say that it was “a time”. The rules state that the drugs must be destroyed as quickly as possible after samples of it have been taken.
The Openbare Ministerie (Public prosecutor) says the error came due to the fact that there were large scale investigations going on at the time.
The 30 year old officer will have to appear in court in Breda on July 4. The case against the 32 year old man from Geldrop will be held at the court in Den Bosch because justice suspect him also of theft of money and cannabis from a coffeeshop in Leerdam where a worker was forced to hand over their keys.
