I still don't think people know where I'm coming from.
There was a 19 year old dude who said he done 5 grand in a week , and gave the impression he smoked the place dry.
I'm just saying I think I smell bullshit , that's all.
5 grand in dollars is 2.5k in pounds. thats about 3 thousand Euro. Take off 500 for food and 500 for hotel, thats 2k left, is about 300 Euros per day for coffeeshopping. mmmmm

cheese wrote:5 grand in 1 week in amsterdam is easy as shit. im talking dollars not euro... and i can 100% say to you guys if you had the money to drop that, it would be gone before your trip was over.

i was lucky enough to have a trip paid for, basically no limits... im ebarassed to say the amount i spent in 10 days. not just me, but my father and i. i had many things to bring home, and went to town on the drinking, smoking etc.. what an amazing trip. also if you want to dine at nice restaurants and drink nice wine and such, it can get very pricey as well.

i also think there was a shit load of wasted euro coming out of our pockets, but it was a great chance to have a blast, and if i could do it myself again i would right now.

please do not mistake this post as me bragging. i am just simply stating that spending that kind of money can easily be done. spending this kind of money is not the only way to have fun, and many can have more fun spending much less. although it is pretty dam fun.

cheers

LOL
How many times.
Not once did I say it couldn't be done, ever.
I'm just saying reading this guys gangster vibe posts , I don't believe he did.
Imo .
If it did include hotel food etc, fair enough.
But the vibe I got was it was on weed only. lol

I blew £900 in 5 days on my last trip to the dam.

I know that because my friendly bank manager sent me a letter asking me if I was aware that £900 had been spent on my account in Amsterdam and it had caused me to miss payments which they had helpfully added their own charges to.

I will admit, I really loved the blow out week, but that's not how my holidays usually are, I'm normally a lot more of a relaxed smoker, but last trip was a big smoking one, so it was all acceptable :)

I have had holidays in Amsterdam where I have had to survive on €30 a day, and still had loads of fun too :)

30 Euro a day might be pushing it a little bit. I mean, if you really want to chill in the same coffeeshop on one bag of weed and not eat all day then it will be fine. If you want a few beers and some food and a few strains of then I'd say you need at least 60 Euro a day. I went to Amsterdam last November with about 600 Euro in my pocket to last me 5 days. This was the most frugal vacation I have ever taken by far and it was still close on that last day. When I got back home , I had to hit the ATM right away at the airport for money to get to my apartment. The EUR/USD rate has come back to about where it was then so I believe it would be just as difficult now.

I think with reading this thread again that I've come to the conclusion that my spending funds are not going to be as much as originally planned for a number of reasons come november.

The flight is paid for and the money for me diggs is already sorted assuming I can get in where I want to. But after that and based on cuttent estimates with a little over 10 weeks to go I'm guessing on about £350 or €420 at best. And even thats assuming the girlfriend is willing to let me "borrow" a little out of the bank.

That would have to last me my first evening, 3 full days (it's a 4 nighter) then most of the last day as it's a leave for the airport by 6pm from the Dam!.

I've worked the breakdown of my cash as something like:

Day 1: €60 (as just the evening)
Day 2: €90
Day 3: €100
Day 4: €120
Day 5: €50 (going home day) or\and what ever cash is left from the previous days. The costs also take into account any little present buying that needs doing.

It should do me ok as I dont do the big meal thing and will tend to do more beer drinking in the hotel via the local AH before going out this time. Of cause it dont mean I'll not be having a few cold beers while I wander round town lol.

yeah, this economic slowdown really is a bitch when your going to dam.

Im going in a week or so, and will be spending 3 full days there, and I can afford about £2-£250 max.

xe converter currently shows £230 as 290 euros, so that gives me 95ish euros a day which i think should be ample, but a couple of years ago it would have cost me £100 less just on spending money, quite sickening.

Just to put it into perspective though, I went to Leeds Festival in August, as i have for the last 9 years, and thats £170 for the ticket, £100 (minimum) spending money, £100 weed (whatever crap my dealer has), £50 Beer, £20 Food, so thats a £450 touch for 5 days in a tent in a rainy field.

My dam trip is coming in at £130 accomodation, £65 flight, £250 max spendo, so £420ish for 3 days in a comfy hotel with the best weed on the planet? Yes it used to be cheaper, but I think I know where id rather spend my money.

Checking the current exchange rate today I'd be getting 16 Euro Cents less to the Pound than my last trip. Which dont sound to much in itself on the face of things. But taking into account my total spending budget (including £100 for the hotel) of about £450, thats about €72 less compared to the exchange rate on my last trip. Now, no matter what your budget limits are, thats still a hell of a lot of difference.
