Smartshops Fight Back Against Klink

The Dutch smartshops have called for the Tweede Kamer (Lower Chambers) to go against the decision of Minister Ab Klink to ban magic mushrooms. The VLOS (National Smartshop Association) have called Klink a ‘blind rhinocerous‘.

The shops point out that Klink hasn’t waited for a report from the Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid, (National Institute for Peoples Health). The RIVM is an important adviser of the Ministry for Health.

Dried mushrooms are at this time illegal and fall under the opium laws in Holland, however, fresh mushrooms are still legal. Minister Ab Klink, however, wants to ban fresh mushrooms as well because he says they lead to life threatening situations for those that take them. A number of tourists have died as a result of taking the hallucinogenic mushrooms.

A number of toursists have died? Dutchnewz.com would not appear to be a reliable source of information on this topic.

Dutchnewz.com is a unreliable source of Dutch news.

In the last several years, major Dutch news services have reported only one death attributed to the taking of only mushrooms.
