hi, this has been discussed in other threads so just look around. but this may help you to start http://www.postwar.nl/pw_2007/subject/amsterdam/

as an aside, growing large quantities is still illegal, so be careful.

move to Amsterdam?

Yes, Peter, you and thousands of others. You would need to have a job and qualify for citizenship if you want to stay for more than a few months, which means you would have to learn the language, Nederlands. You would be in competition with other immigrants from all over the world; many have the dream, relatively few achieve the reality.

It is possible, though, if you have a saleable talent, to get a summer job. Fluency in other languages like French, German, Italian, and/or Spanish might help you find work in the tourist industries. Best of luck!

Thank you kindly, Pala. I know of you from other forums and hope to meet you one day in Amsterdam. Your knowledge, experience and trip reports have been sources of inspiration and edification to me during the past few years. All the best.

Chuckje, I don't resemble my avatar either; ask MHD about that, ha, ha, ha. I remember your trip reports and your bicycling exploits, and I saw some of your photos posted a couple years past. You can change the name or the forum, but my respect is still with you, dude. Cheers to your lady.
