How much a day do you spend?

Post by Dave J »

I've not seen 1 of these threads around for a while now and with the exchange rate the way it is right now it may help myself, and others for the planning for there trip. Possably best to refer to costs in Euro's!.

I recall on my trip of feb 07 that I prob spent a little more than I intended per day. Well I do like a beer or several while smoking lol. But that will likely change on my next trip and rising costs etc and lower value exchange rates.

Anyways, accomodation aside I'm really hoping about the €100-€120 per day will do me. Not set an exact budget yet though, just getting an idea. I'm certainly not 1 for doing the sit down to the big meal thing, more so as I'm going by myself this year. I tend to not really do more than the pub meal thing, burger & chips, plate of wedges that sort of thing. But prob eat more on the move than anything.

So out of unterest, what sort of budgeting are you guys allowing these days?.

The only thing I know for sure is that I dont do the sit sown to a big meal, prefer to eat on the move than anything, intend to make about 3 or 4 weed\hash buys a day. Drink less beer in bars unless finding the cheaper bars lol.

Like you Dave J I was in town in Feb.and bought my Euro before I went for a good price{relative term I guess}but I had a 200 euro a day budget and I didn't even come close to spending that much.Eating was cheaper than expected and I had very few drinks{i.e beer,wine,ect..}.I smoked 8 g/day.I spent about 120 per day{food and weed plus a ton of chocomel}.I also bought some gifts and little trinkets and before I left I turned in about 250euro.So I can see120-140 euro a day being very doable as long as the individual doesn't 5 star food every night and drink like it's going out of style.Since my next trip won't be till next year I will have plenty of time to set aside the money despite the current economic woes.I think this time I will have the same budget{in case of an emergency and possible journeys elsewhere in the N.L}And just keep all extra euro for my next adventure over the pond.

What it cost me for a week in Amsterdam last year was.

Ferry tickets (Dover Calais) both ways €126
Camping for the week €101
Fuel for 300 miles each way 60 litres @ €1 per litre =€60 using a diesel estate car
and I used approx €450 as spending money including food, drink and Tram tickets etc
So the whole lot was about £500/€700 which considering I ate out every nite and sampled more than a few varieties of Amsterdam's finest weed and hash, was very reasonable.

As I am going back in a few weeks it will be interesting to see the difference.

That would be fine for me i think....some days i would spend more if i was being greedy on smoke and drink, others and it would be less - so it evens out on average over the time i am in town to around €100.

I usually have €40-50 aside per day for smoke, €50-60 for drink and food. Then any other added extras....museums, souvenirs and *cough* RLD are on top of that.

Price wise, what I have on my side is I dont smoke "gear" back home for personel reasons. So buying the more expensive hash or weed seems pointless to me as simply put I'd not appreciate anything past the low to mid range gear I feel. But might try 1 or 2 of the finer just to treat myself during the trip lol.

Well in saying that it does make me think of the quality of the high end gear, if only for the point you say. Prehaps I might try some on a possable meet with someone if I do on this trip!.

I always think that 100 - 120 euros is a good amount, enough for some decent green, and a g or 2 of expensive hash, drinks, two meals + snacks and rizlas/lighters etc 8) But i could get by on 80 if i had to budget a bit.

^ditto, p.p. that is, we more or less always go the gf+meself, so it can quickly run up to quite an impressive (or depressive) sum total...

I did find Amsterdam/Holland to be about 5% more expensive in May than it was in December, I try and stick to €100 a day (per person) and found it a struggle, I didn't buy anywhere near as much weed as I usually do either.
