Moving to The Netherlands

yea learn their language first then learn a couple others. then get a visa and then hopefully u find a job and dont forget most important find a nice living apartment some can be small so choose wisley. im movin here in a month not even

As you're in Ireland you dont need a Visa, you also dont need to learn the language unless you're going to be working in a professional capacity.

What sort of work are you looking for? I was over a couple of weeks ago and saw countless jobs in the windows of coffeeshops/bars/restaurants & shops.

Just another question... Do ye reckon moving to the dam as a 20yr old female alone is a good idea? its just ive been wanting to live there for years now but i just havent come across anyone who shares the same intrest... What do ye think?

Actually I hear its not so hard to move to the netherlands.

My friend lived there for several years.

The hard thing is getting an apartment or place to live I hear.
Its really hard and the monthlý rent is quite insane. (atleast for me who live in the northern parts of sweden)

I think the most easy way to move to amsterdam is by going there with someone so you can share an apartment and the rent.

Job is quite easy and supposely it doesnt take many days (hours?) to find a work. I don´t know where you come from but there is alot of Callcenter jobs for foreigner where you work for different companies where you sit and talk in the phone in your own language. For Swedes atleast it seems like there is a neverending amont of places to work at.

Me and my girlfriend are now working our butts of here in sweden to get a decent amount of cash so we can move to Holland.
Were thinking moving to Utrecht maybe.

However orking in a coffeshop I think might be hard. Thats like my biggest dream all time but it sounds like you gotta be able to speak fluent dutch (doh).
But hey, learning to speak dutch is something youre going to learn eventually if you move there right, and maybe it can be easier for you since you are a girl, I dont know?

Anyway, You have one life and you never know when its going to end.
So I highly think you should follow your dream and move to mecka.
As we are trying.

I think it would be safe, depending on where you live exactly. An apartment I looked at right on Dam square was something like 1500 euro a month, it was a small 1 bedroom. You may do better to live closer to the A10 for price reasons.

East of the city generally isnt that bad, its quiet at night, safe for as long as I have been there, close enough that its not difficult to go to the center if you want, and the rents are lower.

Everyone here for the most part speaks English, often better than most Americans who studied it as their primary language. If you want to get a work visa, xpatjobs as suggested earlier, is a good resource. They have a ton of English speaking jobs, if you learn Dutch (rosetta stone has a computer assisted learning package for Dutch) that would be a bonus. xpatjobs does like to spam you and I have not been able to get myself removed from their lists so you may want to use a disposable email address if you sign up there.

Watch for scammers posting rental ads, I have seen some nigerian scams (tracked back to the actual systems in nigeria used even) where people are apparently advertising an apartment for rent with a really low price and suprise you pay the deposit (they wanted western union a big clue) and never get the apartment.

All in all I think you will be fine so long as you arent terribly stupid. Dont antagonize people in dark alleys, dont pass out in the middle of the street, etc. All the normal basic stuff.
