Couple married 80 years book a first

Monday 09 June 2008

Dutch couple Pieter and Jean Ably, aged 103 and 102 respectively, will be the first Dutch couple in history to celebrate 80 years of marriage later this month, according the weekend's Volkskrant.

The couple met in France in the 1920s. 'It sounds nice, but they did not need to become so old,' says daughter Henriëtte, who is 77.

In 2007, some 103 couples celebrated 70 years of marriage and over 7,000 their diamond (60 year) wedding.

Congratulations to the happy couple! :D
