Cheap uk flights

Post by hulldj »

Feeling a little homesick today I thought I'd look into planning my next trip.

Leeds bradford flights from jet2.com from only 99p in October. 2 people return for less than £100 inc fuel supplements ect.

Now to find some cheap digs without getting sidetracked!! ;)

nice one!

i use easyjet from luton or stanstead, and i used to get under £50 flights all the time, but in recent months the best i can find iseems to be £65. and thats with no bags or insurance, which used to be included.

i just prey that this trend of increasing fuel/trickets doesnt mean i have to resort to getting the national express bus again.....

IF the fuel prices carry on like this, or even the airport charges come to think of if then the unthinkable of coach travel might have to be an option for me. And at a good 18-20 hours each way where I live. Which would add upto 8 hours short of 2 days travvel for a return trip!!!!!. But as this would certainly not happen for this years trip oct or nov then I should be ok!.

We always used thomsonfly from doncaster but they have stopped flying from there and my April trip from Humberside with KLM was nearly £200 for just me. Then accomodation on top of that. I suppose it was much quicker and cheaper than PO ferries from Hull...

Which brings back good memories of staying in the Rookies Town house before they got rid of it. Cheap flights and cheap accomodation just a thing of the past!!! Oh well the missus is home so I better stop reminising.. lol

When you take into account the amount spent onboard on food and alcohol.

Er, do flights count as public transport?. Is this what the government has been promoting we do for many years now using public transport!. Planes, buses, trains & coach etc I make no distinction between them.

But it seems only with flights things are getting taxed and charged in every possable way now. Not a good sign for us all to move onto trains and busses as it's obvious the same level of charges would move onto them also if we used them just as much as planes!.

Boner,
Define public transport.

surely planes are transport for the public, as opposed to private transport which would be cars.

You'd get a bus into town - public transport.

I found the same, used to be able to get everything for £40-50 only last year from London Gatwick. This time around though I had to take it for £80 (with a bag to check in) which is more than I am used to paying but worth it I guess since I am still willing to pay for it. Although luckily the hotel prices for the 2 places I am booked in haven't changed since last summer.

Going off topic slightly but I would have assumed that because airlines are a shared public facility that charge for their use of transporting the public, that they would be classed as public transport.

Hay, I dont want to start a heated debate in any way. What I was getting at if flights were classed as public transport. This would be an indicater to the sort of crazy charges that would probably be brought into place for trains, coaches, busses etc (ok on a slightly lower scale but the thought remains the same) if the masses started to use them and sack there cars off alltogether thats all lol.
