Returned Home

So after 16 days in Europe, picking up my brand new BMW 135i in Munich, and over a week in Amsterdam, I'm home.

Amsterdam was AMAZING (no way, I know!) My girlfriend and I stayed at the NH Carnasa the when we first arrived. We flew in from Minnesota to Amsterdam.

The hotel was nice, but after being checked in for all of 5 minutes I was ready to go patrol for coffee shops. Our first ever shop was the Arabic Lounge. That place was awesome, very friendly and helpful for our first time. I ended up buying a gram of the White Widdow, and a prerolled joint of Silver Haze (so we could start smoking right away).

We sat down on the small padded benches by the window. I remember the feeling of everyone walking by us as we were smoking there. Everything I've been taught is to try and hide/conceal everything related to weed. There I was holding a half way smoked joint as people walked by and stared; it felt good.

Our next shop was just down a few doors from the Arabic Lounge. Old Amsterdam is a GREAT place. They ID almost everyone, but my girlfriend and I made friends with the owner. He's a GREAT guy, gave us a free package of papers, a free lighter, let us borrow his grinder. They've got a big selection of gear there and it was great.

Old Amsterdam and the Arabic Lounge were easily our favorite shops. There's better gear to be found around the city, but the atmosphere can't be beat.

We visited a ton of shops including:
Route 99
Grey Area
Stix
Rokerj

and more.

After 4 days (felt like 2) had passed, we had to continue with our trip. However we returned to Amsterdam as I had to drop my car off here to be shipped back.

After the rest of our trip we made it back to The Netherlands. We were staying near Schiphol for the last leg of our trip. We immediately left our room to catch the free shuttle bus to the airport. Then took the train into Central Station.

It felt SO good to be back in that city (even if we were only gone for 8 days). The second time around we felt much more comfortable with public transportation, we knew where good food was, and most importantly the best gear spots :)

All in all, it was AMAZING. I've got some video clips I'll try to upload later. We managed to get some great footage from our hotel room. It looked right down on Rembrandtplein.

No problem :)

The 135i is AMAZING. I've never had as much fun as I did on this trip. Between going 140MPH down the Autobahn, to driving through the Austrian Alps, and then all the way back up Germany on the Autobahns. It was by far the coolest thing I've ever done. The car drove like it was on rails, making it easy to take sharp turns at speed.

Now I just have to wait another month for it to get back to the states. I dropped the car off in Amsterdam on June 5th so I'm already going crazy from the wait.

Here are some pictures I took of the gear we got while over there. I didn't bring my macro lens so they're a bit blurry. (Not to mention I was stoned out of my pants)

I agree with your assessment of Old Amsterdam. It is one of the underrated jewels of coffeeshops. It's fun just to check out that enormous menu. Then the smoke hits you between the eyes. I've had Sensi Star and White Russian there, and they were two of the best indicas I've ever smoked.

I wanted to try Arabica Lounge in December, because it advertises on the window that it opens at 7 a.m., but it certainly wasn't open even close to that early ... 8 passed, then 9 ... not open. So I blew it off. Maybe I'll try again next time.

Glad to hear you had a good time.

As for the Chocolope, I've smoked about a quarter-pound in the last few weeks, and it's a top-notch sativa with little hammerhead effect.

Chocolope was AMAZING. Definitely in my top 3. It was such a great high, I remember stumbling through the streets like a mad fool.

Jack Herrer was great as well, it was somewhat harsh but totally worth it for that balloon-head high.

Arabic Lounge opened around 10 I think. That's the earliest we got there. We were greeted by a familiar face behind the counter and he offered us "something to get the morning started with" LOL

I must correct myself. It wasn't Arabica Lounge that advertised on the window as an early opener. It was Andalucia. My bad.
