munchies suggestion ---> fried cheese
Moderator: Balou
Aint got time to scroll through all this just now but deep fried mozarella in breadcrumb is a pretty common place snack... I guess being Scottish it sorta makes you an afficionado on all things deep fried... by default of course
Even burger king sell mozarella bites which is what I'm talking about + a tangy tomato middle. They are low grade shite though, if you see if on a menu in a decent eatery it's amazing.

Deep fried cheeeeeese...... mmmmmmm

Stoner
And of course the Scottish gave us the "stoner." Its a large sausage, wrapped in doner kebab meat, then battered and then deep fried. Apparently its something like 3000 calories.
But don't feel bad Scotland, the Deep South of the US is similar. They will batter and fry anything if it stays still long enough.

Re: Stoner
Ahhh, see you've got that slightly wrong, it's Stauner (pronounced Staw-Ner; staw as in straw). Or Stonner if you really must use proper Englishnewgog wrote:And of course the Scottish gave us the "stoner." Its a large sausage, wrapped in doner kebab meat, then battered and then deep fried. It literally means "stander", a scottish (maybe even just glasgwegian) term for hardon/erection, whatever.... bit confusing as it's actually a cumberland sausage which is curled (see below) and it's also really only available in Airdrie, which is a complete shithole and hardly the biggest of places.
In fact, I know locals who don't know what a Stauner Supper is
A cumberland sausage for those not in the know:

Similar to the deep south, you're right. Poverty plays a big part in explaining that. Glasgow is one of the most deprived cities in Europe. It's my home though and I love the city dearly. 'MON THE STAUNER!!!!!!! It's a brave man with a strong heart who can consume such a beast
