Today - I have had a bit of a financial blow prior to my trip. Meaning that i now have probably only 70 - 80 euros a day to survive in Amsterdam. it is a real pisser. I am going next Monday (7th) for 3 nights returning late thirsday, I am seriously considering cancelling my trip, i will lose the £60 air fair and 50 euro deposit for my apt. I was wondering could you still have a pretty good time with that amount?

I figure if i buy 4 - 5 grams a day and take it easy that'll be 40-50euros then a few drinks at say 20 euro and food for 10-15 per day, then that should be alright. The thing is that i dont wanna go and be skint and be cheesed off, but i guess ill be even more cheesed off if i didnt go at all

I suppose i could lounge about in the park for an afternoon, that would be cheap, and Zandvoort perhaps.. if only to sit on the beach and go paddling.

I dunno, im quite stoned right now and am just writing what im thinking...

4 - 5 grams a day is a hell of a lot, I dont see the point in smoking THAT much weed in one day. But ofcourse that's my opinion and I don't know how resistent you are to thc.

Whats your appartment going to cost? Like 70 euros a night? I think you'll be allright if you dont spend TOO much on weed etc.

You've got to go man, you'll regret it if you don't...

A few places do some good deals on 5g bags, so you could try getting one of those, would leave you more cash for some special bits n pieces

Go to the big supermarket by Dam square and get food to eat at the park/hotel, you'll save loads.

Also, I always find that on the last day I'm just trying to finish everything I've bought so far

It's shit having to holiday on a budget, I like not having to think about cash when I'm away but i've been to the Dam a few times on a budget when I was younger (and am sure I will do so again...) and always had a great time, just like you will.

Apartment is 60 per night. but ive already taken that into account. 70 -80 per day for me, i.e food drinks and weed. ... Im perking up nicely!

I would still go for sure as I personally would regret it if I canceled a trip due to lack of funds.

I could get by with a couple of grams of weed a day if need be, for me I would eat half a gram of hash and that would mean I would smoke a lot less for one evening....just an idea. Or try and stick with vapo bags for one evening as I found this spreads the purchases out a little further if needed. Or as said above, try and get a good deal on a few grams and make that the only purchase of the day maybe.

The idea of buying food at the supermarket is a good one as I did this for a couple and saved a few quid easily. And there is always FEBO to fall back on

Luckily you are going in the summer too as I always find I spend more in the winter as I have to jump into every shop I pass just to escape the cold, unlike the summer where I can take a long walk down south or west of the city center.

It may suck now but I reckon once you are over there, you will think being on a budget in Amsterdam is far better than not being there at all.

4- 5 grams of weed sounds quite much to me. i was high all day every day in Adam and i still didnt smoke 4 grams of weed a day. i would recommend some of the cheaper bio weed instead of those 12- 13 euro per gram if you want to save some cash. you can find a nice sativa for 8 euro per gram, like orange bud or something, and buy it in the 5 grams for a really good price. last time i was in Adam i really went all out trying to buy the expensive sativas, and i can still say that i was really ok with the orange bud.

Man sozz to hear a problem with the funds issue. I for 1 would still go but spend at least 1 day either hanging round your hotel or walking round the city smoking and enjoying the sights, therefor saving as much cash as you can in just 1 day!.

Beer is very cheap in the shops as you will know from another thread on here somewhere. So a day (weather depending) in a park would certainly be as cheap as you can ever expect.

A load of gear (say 3 grams of cheapish gear) and 12 bottles of half decent beer in a AH store should by my estimate cost no more than €30. What you might do with the rest of your daily budget in upto you of cause!.

My sympathy kind of wanes when you say how much you are spending on an apartment and daily weed. I had a great time in Amsterdam with two friends last year and had barely any money really.

So of course you should go -stop sulking

Its meant to be holiday mate, not a struggle. The apartment had a non-returnable deposit so i cant exactly help that. As for weed, i dont think 4-5 g per day is a huge amount.

Edit: Oh and thanks for the repies people, sounds like 70-80 will be fine after all. I can take it easy on the first day, go wild on the second, easy on the 3rd with a burn out in the 4th day!!

It depends what you are smoking 4-5grams of.
Some of the better weeds are not cheap 10 -15 euro a gram and some of the ice hash is more. You can find deals at a better price than the centrum coffeeshops and if you don't mind not having the more expensive strains.
a good example is White Widow, it was 8.50 in town in the rookiji and 5 euro a gram in the coffeeshop nearest zeeburg called the stud.

But to answer your question yes you should be OK with that sort of money, I was there last week and had a good time on about 70 euro a day spending/eating etc money and that was visiting plenty of shops and trying lots of varieties, if you do want to try a number of types ask for half grams as a number of coffee shops do them if you ask.

Yeah the Dampkring and Tweede Kamer have very reasonably priced weed IMO. And good too! Do you know if they had "Reclining Buddha" on the menu? That was a good one.... I love their Super Silver Haze.

Sounds like your very much sorted then m8. I for 1 whilst watching the pennies try not to think of the cost of things whilst I'm there. So possably of a similar mindset when in Dam?.

I do tend to take my time on the first day as I dont smoke back home, so money saved there. My second day I start to settle into things so budget goes up but still below average. The third day is budget setting day as I have to go by what I've spent by then, what I have left and what I want to do during the trip. The forth day is the best for me (assuming a 4 nighter of cause) as it's the last full day. So it's certainly the biggest spending day of the trip. But I do take into mind what "gear" not to buy that I wont have time to smoke on the last day. The fifth day is going home day, It's kind of spending next to nothing as I still have gear left and visit only my faverate 3 coffeeshops of the trip day. Of cause I do tend to buy the seemingly have to cheap 3 dvd set of porn (usually Ben Dover) dvd's from that Free Record Store place lol.

What I'd do if my budget goes down in november like yours has axeman is simply take it easier on at least the first and second day. I know I could certainly last on your budget but my weakness is I do like a beer when I'm away with my smoke. So I'm going to try and ignore my budget as much as possable by having several shop bought beers or more while I'm in my room resting or getting ready to go out.

Just that it seems to me that in past trips at least a third of my budget has gone on expensive beers in the bars!!!. Yet the vast majority of that can be saved by buying vastly superior beers cheap in the shops and drinking at your diggs while getting ready to go out or resting. Then mainly having coffee while out with just a few beers a day!.

But yup, as your asking I'd certainly say your budget will be fine as long as your beer drinking does'nt have to be done in the bars!.
