Btw I know this is a long shot but does anyone know of whiskey bars or bars with a great selection of whiskeys that allow cannabis? Probably not any around but decided to drop this question anyway!

Well, J.D. Williams on Prinsenstraat has a very fine selection (among these the quite rare and very interesting Nikka from the Barrel which is a must try if you like powerful stuff), very good craft beers and very nice food also, but alas we do not think that they will take kindly to smoking inside...

Smoking discrete outside may be possible, but wouldn't recommend as it is a quiter street and lot's of locals and kids pass by. You might be able to sneak something out to go and sit by either of the two wonderful canals to either your left or right, we successfully "smuggled" a craft beer or two out of there without the rossers catching on (not allowed and could result in fine for bar) assisted by the nice staff...

Also Arend's Nest (sp) is just around the corner and DLN reports that the terrace is a good place to sneak in a toke, don't know if they have anything else than Dutch craft beer though...

Thanks for the recommendations and taking the time! I might look into it, but maybe not as I'd like to have a chilled one rather than secretly rush it

I'm also considering maybe getting a good bottle from shops and ask nicely if I can have some in my hostel's bar and maybe share some of it with the staff

Shouldn't be a problem. Like all big cities, money talks and bullshit walks. If you bung a note in their tip jar you should be fine
