"People have different preferences of vaporizing temperatures and methods of using the device. When chunks of marijuana (rather than shredded or grinded material) are placed in the stage, the heat is not evenly dispersed; the inner portions of the chunks do not get as hot as the outside, so some THC is left behind. At lower temperatures, more of the terpenes - the odor molecules - are vaporized, compared to THC, so some of the THC remains in the herb. At higher temperatures, virtually no THC is left.
However, the CBD and CBN cannabinoids are usually still left in the pot, so the left over herb can be used for cooking. CBD and CBN usually have a stronger body effect rather than a cerebral high, and cooking with pot usually brings out those cannabinoids."
