Canibus Cup 2008... Who's goin???

It might be too early to ask about the cup. But since I bought my plane ticket this morning I am a bit stoked to see who's gonna be around. At the moment I am traveling solo, but that can always change.

More importantly I am wondering if any of people in this forum will be staying at the Flying Pig Downtown.

Either way lets get our mouths watering(or cottonmouth) thinking about the cup!

I'm going out for the cup, although not sure if i'll take part in the judging.

I'll be staying just over from you at my regular haunt - Youth Hostel Meeting Point, on Waarmoestraat. I'll look to hook up with you sometime.

Maybe there will be an official thread where everyone can post up.

Yeah I'm not to keen on the judging thing yet. Seems a bit steep. I was in town last year a day after the cup and didn't think I missed a thing.

I'm not booked at a hostel as of yet. Is the Meeting Point alright? It has some decent reviews on hostelworld but I love first hand accounts. Is it pretty cheap?

As for hooking up I can always be found at Wonderbar!!! My all time favorite place in the 'Dam. I wonder if the smoking has affected them? It's a hookah bar. I'll have to investigate that... :?

I agree there should be a dedicated sticky thread for the cup.

I like it, it's not the cheapest hostel, but it is smoke friendly and the guys who work there are nice guys.

I'm going back there next week, so this will be the first trip since the smoking ban, but when I was out there in June, they were building a smoking room downstairs, although it is a bit small!!

It really depends on what you want from the hostel as whther it's the right place for you.

It's on Waarmoestraat, about 1 minute from the red light district and about 2 mins from Centraal station. I spend a lot of time chilling in the bar area talking to random strangers and making the most of it. If you are looking for that kind of backpacker enviroment, then it really is good.

A lot of people who leave bad comments about the hostel tend to be expecting hotel or bed and breakfast levels of service, and you don't get that, bu tthen this is a hostel.

They do snack foods, Tea is 1e a cup, ham and cheese toasties are 1.80e, so it's a good place to snack if you don't have much money :)

I have been to the Dam 4 times so far this year, 2 to other hostels, and 2 to Meeting point, and it's the best one i've been to.

I've been doing all the readings for\about the CC and what not etc. So apart from the new strains etc that you can certainly get for as much as a quarter cheaper 6 months down the road, whats the point in it all?.

Sorry dont mean to sound anti CC, but apart from paying over the odds to be the first to try this that and the other new strains I simply dont see what the fuss is about?.

In saying that I will however be on here a lot around the CC time just to see what gets posted about the whole thing as I'm probably missing something!.
