Take Scott Brown and Steven Davis out of both teams midfields and you have some very average engine rooms

I was surprised at the level of secternism in Glawsgo, i never thought it would be anywhere near that in places in Belfast. Hopefully people may learn to support their team, rather than hate the other team, if that makes sense.

the teams were formed along those lines in the late 1800's but i wouldn't of said the support is split now.

I'd agree Riedmarc, I find it to be a friendly rivalry most of the time. I have alot of Friends who support both teams ( my maw's a Hibby! ) and although defeat is hard to take, things never get violent.

I bet Glasgow's E.R had a lot mor traffic last night than any other last week....

Nothing else matter on this derby day. not where either of us in the league, not how we are doing in other competitions. this is a straight hate filled 1 on 1.

and im ashamed to say im not there, failed to get a ticket and am resigned to sitting here watching it on some jumpy stream off of japanese tv, at 3 o'clock.

They may aswell pair Liverpool and Chelsea in the qualifying stage!! Coz at one point or another in the comp we end up playing each other!!!

Manchester United couldnt have asked for an easier draw... the strongest teams besides them left and liverpool, chelsea, bayern and Barca... so a straight route for Man Utd to the final,

Poorest team left in the comp have to be Arsenal, i mean any team who can say Eboue have been their best player during a game really do have problems, plus they are nothing without Fabregas!!!

yep, we do...

in general the rivalries with arsenal and united are more football based. competative rivalries.

the rivalries with t*ttenham, liverpool, leeds, west ham, are proper fan based rivalries. born out of nasty history form the 70's and 80's and the hate has carried though 'till today.

theres obviously a lot of contempt for eachother at any london derby, but arsenal away has always been a cake walk for visiting chelsea fans. im not tryin to pretend im some top hooligan or anything (i have no bottle what so ever in a one on one situation), i just mean we drink very close to the ground and dont hide ourselves away when we're out in the open. tottenham is a different matter. drink in victoria or liverpool st, and only run the gauntlet of seven sisters road 15 minutes beofre kick off.

(i have to admit our home support is very diluted now adays and its horrible to admit that our main rivals often drink and take the piss close to the ground.. often the slug on fulham broadway)

thing with liverpool, is whilst they always been good, chelsea in general have not been. so the rivalry was always fan based, with us never really expecting to match them on the pitch. although we had a couple of good results... however with our ascent to sucess over the last decade, we now have liverpool as a proper rival on the pitch too...

the rivalry with tottenham in one of folklore, the one with liverpool is a very current one.


and the champions league draw.... im not bored with it yet..... its 2-2, for liverpool and us in the champions league. we MUST do this one. another huge game.

Ah I see, never been that clued up on the whole hooliganism aspect of the game, bit too young for all that, I think the majority of trouble had passed by the time I started attending games.

As for Chelsea themselves, as a neutral I would have liked to see them get more success than they have really. I took a keen interest when Abramovich took over, as it was the first major foreign takeover that got quite a bit of press that I noticed. And hats off to Mourinho, I thought he was just what the league needed, a controversial character that got all up in Fergie's grill (always seen Fergie as somewhat of a smug git, even compared to Mourinho). Highly rated in my eyes in terms of his managerial skills and his amusement factor.

Thats what happens when teams like Chelsea and Arsenal price normal fans out of the game, the atomsphere in the stadium and outside it turns rather middle class. Chelsea and Arsenal are full on yuppie team these days, theres not many real clubs left in London, Spurs, West Ham , Leyton Orient ( boooooooooo ) charlton and millwall are some of the few teams which still have the old london club vibe about them. Chelsea used to have that, back in the 80's and 90's now unfortantly it is a case of Chelsea brand rather than Chelsea football club.
