im going to italy, paris, and amsterdam of course in 1 week. and i need help on where you can buy electric converters at? i remember buying one at like a little mini mart and it worked fine. im coming form the united states. and i dont wanna buy one here and take it over there since the ones here arent garunteed to work in europe, and heard they can break my electronic devices. im gonna be using the converter to charge a cell phone and ipod. please help me out.

i dont know if "Media Markt" can be found in Italy and France as well, but in Germany and the netherlands you can find this big electronic store, i think they can help you.

Any Radio Shack/Best Buy/Circuit City, etc., also should have them. And yes, they work.

I forget to ask if you need a transformer or just an adapter. Most digital cameras and iPods and the like have the range to handle a adapter only without using a transformer. Check your device range. My wife had a hair dryer which required a transformer as well. If you're not sure this place is a good start, they are very helpful.

as for where to buy it listen to Geoff and Jester. if you are unsure what you need i would get a converter and a transformer, these are relatively inexpensive and it could save your electronics from blowing out. also do you really want to spend your time in the Dam searching for an electronics store??

What you need to do is check out your chargers . See if it shows a range of currents it will accept ... often it'll say 110-250...if so, you just need the adapter ...For example our laptop needed just a 3 euro adapter from Blokker (the one on Jodenbreestraat had a whole bin full)... or from Radio Shack or the outlet Geoff provided ... Our global economy at work .

The multi adaptor Geoff suggested is a good one to buy, but you'll also need this one for Italy.

the us works at 110volts. europe varies from 220-240. ur stuff will fry if it cant handle it so check first. there must be a better physicist than me on here, i'm just remembering school shit.

im gonna be using 4 different chargers. all of them are 100-240V. so would i only need a adapter?

yes, some chargers have a 110-220 switch so just make sure
