I am planning my first trip to the Dam in Feb 09, I expect to visit two to three coffee shops a day, for 8 days. What are the top ten shops not to miss?

Dampkring - I prefer the Spui area shop but either is good. Extensive menu and possibly the best value around with some great deals and top, top quality weed! More fool you if you do no go to this place! Recommended- Super Silver Haze, NYCD, White Russian
Amnesia - The weed is high quality but just plain expensive although it is a great place to hang out no doubt. It has become more commercial and Barney esque but I still like the place! Get a seat outside and it is one of the nicest spots about, canal side. Great staff, reasonably priced drinks, shakes and cakes. Recommended- G13, Pink Kush, Amnesia Haze
Grey Area - Not really a place to hang out, more to quickly drop in. I don't go often because prices are high but the weed is top quality and it ridiculously popular! recommended - Grey Berry, Chocolope, Big Buddah Cheese
Homegrown Fantasy - This is a great place that you shouldn't miss! Lovely spot to hang whether outside or in and although the weed menu is small it is of a very good quality. Great staff and the shop is spacious with plenty of seats. A little underrated this place. Recommended - Cheese, Lemon
De Kuil - Only just recently discovered this place myself but very much liked it! Liked the menu and loved the weed. This place has a good atmosphere when it is busier, Nice decor, decent place to sit and smoke. Recommended - Blueberry, Neville's Haze
Mellow Yellow - Locals and tourists mix in a very nice atmosphere. Decent weed and a good place to sit and smoke for a bit. Also it is a contender for the title of first ever coffeeshop, gotta visit the original. Recommended - Orange haze, Pot of Gold
These ones stand out for me and certainly should not be missed! There are other decent places but these are my faves. Barney's is worth a visit because it has good weed but it is very expensive, crowded and commercial so I can't be arsed with it. if you like to mix weed with tobacco there is a place called Route 99 which has the best smoking area, a large spacious room and you do not have to buy weed- nice decor and atmosphere so perfect for sitting and smoking with some drinks.

1. Barneys - my favourite menu in the 'dam, and the opportnuity to smoke it over a lovely breakfast in their place across the road. also you can smoke it in the newly refurbished wine bar bit alos across the raod. (the own brad wine is amazing too).
2/3/4. Rokerij I II & III - These three coffeeshops are my favourite chiiiiiiill places. real attention to arabic/gothic interior decoration, with low seating and candles on the low tables. Good mellow music too. smoke a heavy indica in these places. (cant speak for Rokerij IV as ive never been.)
5. Grasshopper - The coffeshop bit is nothing special, but sitting on the decking outside in the summer, with a beer, over looking the water and busy streets, is one of my favourite spots. Stones trhow from the R/L district, and centrally located. they also do my favourite space cakes (brownies).
6. Dolphins - down stairs is spacious and tobacco friendly. the comfiest sofas in dam are there too, with a really cool 'underwater' mural all around the walls. great for shrooms, and great for putting your feet and and chiling. white dolphin is a classic smoke from there.
7. Rusland - this place has one of the comfiest seats in dam, under the stairs as u walk in, and a glass pipe and bong selection that'll keep u entranced for hours. Usually try the volcano vape from there as a tradition.
8. Bulldog palace - sometimes, im in the mood for plain honest to god, lively bar nightlife. nothing classy, or upmarket, just cheesy dance music and alcohol. coffeshop downstairs and weed friendly bar/club upstairs. ideally placed in the lidseplein, and a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing.
9. abraxas - lots of seating spread over two floors, really decent soft drinks menu, all in a nice polished wood finish, sadly the grwo room is closed now, but its still a great place to hold up for a while. theres a microscope too, u can get a real good idea of what your smoking. try it!!
10 stones cafe - ok, this isnt a cofeeshop, its a weed friendly bar, but a good fun lively bar. shows english football and get really bouncing at times. right at the base of the old church in R/L district.

In no particular order:
Mellow Yellow
Excellent weed (SSH,& Orange Haze are very nice), Excellent service
Grey area
Not a fan of the shop as its a bit busy but they easily have the best quality bud in the dam and i have never had any crap from here yet.
katsu
Excellent shop, Excellent service and the surrounding area is wicked to explore. The weed menu is good too (BW was very good and SS is good any time smoke)
Barneys Lounge
Not a fan of barneys but this place is a nice hangout. Excellent shop and the weeds very good too (Blue Cheese is my fav here)
Rokerij II (Singel)
Always my first stop every trip i take to the Dam. Love the shop and the staff are very friendly. Big Latte and a phat head of NLx does the job and the Dunya is okay too.
Greenhouse (Was Blue velvet)
Again not a fan of The greenhouse shops although the weed is good. But this shop has been transformed under the new owners.
Homegrown fantasies
Excellent shop although one member of staff is always moody! Will be sad to see this place go
Kadinsky (Rosmarijnsteeg)
Now i like this shop late at night when its not to busy, Get in the window in the summer! Never buy bud here as it always give me a headache so just get a drink and tip well and you will be fine smoking your G13 here!
The Bushdoctor (Thorbeckeplein)
I love the weed and hash menu (Sensistar Ice Hash is awesome) but the shop is a bit outdated now and the staff are quite pushy and aggresive. (In both shops) But worth it for the smoke!! Never had crap here in the 12 years i have been visiting this shop.
Twede kamer/Dampkring
These two shops just for there menu. They are just always to busy now even in the winter but still drop in to grab some take away!
These are my top ten choices but there are a few more shops that could have slipped in instead of some of the Big names.
These Shops in my eyes have the best quality gear to find in the Dam (Apart from Kadinsky!!)and are a must visit.
Enjoy!!

I'm surprised you don't have Basjoe's on your list. I was there a couple of weeks ago for the first time -- based on your recommendation and others' -- and met Leo.
