Quitting Tobacco/Pipes/Vaporizers

Post by rks0 »

For many years, my primary method of consuming weed has been to smoke the traditional UK style joint, with weed and tobacco.
Over the last few days, I've made a concious decision to reduce my tobacco intake, with a view to quitting smoking tobacco altogether (I do smoke ciggies)in the near future. So, over the last few days, I've been using a small glass pipe.
With the change, I've noticed a few things- the high from a pipeful tends to be more intense, and therefore I'm smoking less weed.
Also, after having a pipeful, my nictotine craving seems to be gone.
My one issue is that on inhaling, the smoke is very hot.
Also, I'm looking at the possibility at getting a vaporizer, however, never having used one, I'm a bit reluctant to fork out close to £400 for a digital Volcano.
I have been looking at these as an introduction to vaping.

I'd be interesting in hearing any thoughts and opinions not only on the Vapir, but also any opinions on pipes- is glass better than other materials?
What are your preferences?
I know of some members who smoke weed and have quit tobacco- what was it like? Do you find the effects of smoking a pipeful without tobacco to be a purer high?
Any and all comments will be very appreciated., thanks!

IMO i have been smoking out of glass pipes for many years as the primary method of smoking, i find glass is much better than metal which can get very hot and affects the taste. ceramic is OK too but those are pretty plain, my bowls are all works of art

Vaping would work. A bong with ice would cool the smoke. Also, if the small pipe you're using is too small, a change as minor as a pipe with a longer stem could make a difference.

I quit smoking cigarettes completely over 2 years ago, and have smoked my weed straight ever since. Over these few years I have smoked through metal pipes and find that they are difficult to clean and stain easily. I am looking to purchase my first glass pipe upon landing in A'dam this coming Thursday. Can anyone recommend some models/brands and location for purchasing?

This pipe shape really appeals to me:

Thanks for the advice.

Jett first of all the Old Man is a great headshop on the Damstraat, they have tons of glass to choose from. second the shape you like is called a Sherlock, i have one myself and even though they look great they become pretty hard to clean at the curve on the bottom where all the resin collects, so just for a few days in the Dam to make it easier on urself i say get a reg straight piece with a carb large enough to clean easily...peace

Hi Nirvana. I figured that when looking at this shape, and started thinking about the pipecleaners I would need to clear the bend.

I'll check out The Old Man. Cheers.
