the fly agaric

Post by bushwalt »

Have any of you ever heard of this mushroom? It's a really common species all over the northern hemisphere and has been used for centuries. Anyway, today I went up in the mountains and I found some and I have them drying currently on a metal screen. Is there a better way to dry them aside from the oven? Also, have any of you guys shroomed with this particular species? I think I will dry it and put it in capsules for the taking.

Let me know if you guys have any information about this. I've read quite a bit on the internet and I'm convinced I'll have a good time, but would like to hear from somebody who has actually done them.

thanks!

peace

I thought Fly Agaric were poisonous toadstools. How are you planning on ingesting them?

oh woops, I somehow did not read the word "how" when asking about ingesting them. I think I'm just going to dry them, grind them up and swallow them....we'll see. The worst that will happen is I will feel some nausea, which should be followed by the trip.

you dont have to dry them in the oven....

just lay them out on a mesh or something where the air can pass right through.... leave em out for a bout a week or so and they will dry up very nicely.

rotate them every now and again

yeah, thanks. I've read through erowid about them. Only a few more days now and they'll be completely dry. I'm looking forward to it.

Well I haven't posted for a while but you need to be aware that one of the side effects from taking this variety can be liver failure..... that's nothing to be sniffed at.

yeah, thanks for the concern. I ate them yesterday with disappointing results. After about an hour or so my body started to feel really light, like I weighed half as much as I do. It's hard to explain the sensation, but it only lasted about half an hour. Other than that nothing. However, I only was able to find two small caps...which I'm sure is the reason.

Anyway, I'd like to try them again, but in a larger dose.

If anybody else has tried them let me know. I'm still curious about the outcomes.

peace

In my experinence of these dont bother, the ones I got were from a head shop in liverpool, absolutly rank to digest - the worst thing I have ever eaten. Hardly any effect I felt light headed and thats it, very let down!

I tried them many years ago. I ate about 2 big handfuls of the powdered mushroom. I got very subtle buzz and constipation for a week after!
My brother though thought they were great and done them regularly for a few years. He use to love oil painting under the influence of them. Eventually his body wouldn't accept any more. He physically couldn't get the crap tasting powder down anymore :0

yeah, thanks for info. It's kinda disappointing after reading about their history throughout the world and then eating them with zero results. The Siberian peoples must have some stronger varieties than what are around here.

I have eaten two huge mothers once washed down with a half bottle of whiskey. Nearly an hour later I was sick and passed out. A few hours after that I came around without any recollection of having eaten two Fly Agarics. The world was a VERY different and frightening place and I was utterly convinced that I had somehow 'broken' my self and would always stay that way. Luckily for me a few hours later I did bump into a mate whilst wondering around the streets of South Manchester who had witnessed my eating the mushrooms and was able to talk me round. A very unpleasant trip in all honesty and one I have little inclination to repeat. I will stick to my ikkle liberty cap friends...
