I can say one thing about Amsterdam..IT WAS GREAT! 
My trip there was a bit spontanous and I drove 1500km to get there with 2 friends who had been there some times before. Their advice is probably what saved me from ending my days under the wheels of some scooter or bike. We were in the city centrum for 5 days and had a lot of fun sightseeing the city.
I know now why almost everybody is planning the next trip right after the last one..my next will be in october.
