By the way, the SUPER KIFF in the pics is, in fact, our first smoke from the GREENHOUSE EFFECT on Sunday morning. Did I mention a zillion times yet just how GREAT the hasj is in Amsterdam? You simply cannot go wrong with the Maroc's. The black hasj on the other hand is becoming rarer than hens teeth...
Oh yeah, the Green Place DOES have a smoking section now. Seems like the places with the smoking section are super diligent about enforcing the tobacco laws - I saw them kick out someone for smoking a mix in the dealer area.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 26
We wake up maybe 6 1/2 hours later, snoozing our cell phone alarm for a good hour! We've been sleeping in the living room of the Global Fusion, pushing both beds together and crashing their for the night leaving the bedroom as a "changing room" with closets and full length mirrors for the wife to preen!
We spark up a hasj j, most likely killing off the very psychedelic TEMPLE BALL before heading over to HILL STREET ON THE MARKET for cafe and spliffs to start the day. Since we went non-stop yesterday we're planning a lay-low day and settle in to a table. Different vibe at the HILL ST today, the new budtender seems intent on hitting on the chicks and nothing else, earning him the nickname from my wife "mr. personality". Aussie chap, he reminded me of the guy nobody likes at Dutch Flowers but our opinion of him would quickly change for the better as we got to know Richie.
We head over to BETTY BOOP to say hi to Mikey and grab a smoke. Dang, we arrive and it's PACKED - no bar seating and Mikey is busy as can be behind the counter. Apparently their open mixing policy really IS attracting extra clientele - it's been the busiest shop yet outside the RLD.
We chat briefly but it's too busy so down to business - any hasj recommendations? We're running low and their menu has been picked clean by hungry stoners and just about EVERY Maroc is "sold out" so he says, how about the CHARAS at 10 eg? We've been reluctant but the price was right and Mikey's never given us a bum steer so we grab a g and settle down to smoke along the bar stool area near the door. Black and non "speckled" like Mountain Top, it squished nice (no brownie!) and gave off a potent spice. We broke up a good 1/2 g for a spliff and enjoyed it quite a bit - not as much as the marocs BUT we didn't abandon this batch either. However, we realized that it would be pretty much brown's for the rest of the trip.
We wander towards Nieumarkt in search of a new coffeeshop, or new to us anyway! We get sufficiently lost and wind up east of Central Station, a stretch we've literately NEVER been down and we see coffeeshop Central. Decent if mixed reviews, we notice it's rather busy and the cliental is, shall we say, SKETCHY at best? We head east with the harbor to our left and fall into the ScArIeSt place we've seen in Amsterdam in a LONG time:
THE GHOST OF LA CANNA! AHHHH!
Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating but has anyone ever seen VOYAGERS hotel and coffeeshop?

A strange combo of hotel/coffeeshop/cafe that's bright white with a few take-out restaurant tables and chairs on the left and a counter to the right. The woman behind the counter were all Asian and I spotted what looked like a rice cooker on the table behind them. No smell of herb in the air and it looked more like, well not sure WHAT it looked like but it was an interesting and unique vibe so I approached the menu with baited breath....
Well, wish I took a pic of the menu 'cause I KNOW I wiped my eyes in disbelief like beaver cleaver (may have even shouted, "gee wally") when I spotted the prices. I'm thinking maybe some unusual Asian herbs, ya know? But I looked at the hasj menu and the FIRST item was
6g Afghani 50 euro
WHAT? Did I read that correctly?? Below that, something like...
2g Super Pollen 35 euro
I don't think there was a purchase LESS than 30 euro on the menu. I shook uncontrollably and the wife had to walk me out the door. "Quick, 100mg of quality hasj, STAT!" Soon I was comfortably medicated and we walked, no RAN back towards Nieumarkt square and the safety and comfort of TRUE pot heads!
Back at Nieumarkt we throw the dice and go into a new shop for us and another divisive shop on the forum
ROCK-IT
We're greeted by soft spoken Jamaican or African dude that's quite pleasant and patient, allowing me to take my time on the menu. Prices varied - again, the hash was CrAzY expensive with the Rock-it "Special" black at 20 e/g and some Malana Cream for, I think, 25 e/g so I was rather happy I WASN'T smoking any black hasj! We turn to the weed and grab KATSU at 8 e/g.

Nice, sativa-ish for sure, rather pretty and well cured. Gave us a nice uplifting high that wasn't too much but wasn't too little either. Another solid "bargain" bud.
Alright, time for some breakfast...met some VERY cool people outside ROCK-IT, making the shop all the more appealing. Stay tuned, more to come!
