Thanks for the wrap-up.
How was customs back in the States? What did they ask you?
Ever have problems?
I had three bottles of Absinthe on one return. They decided to train the "new guy" by ripping thru all my stuff, finding tiny bits of hash in my vest pockets, frisking me, etc.... but only one return trip.

Thanks for the kind words - there is little more inspiring in this world than a few days in Amsterdam!
The bong in the Global Fusion room IS gone! Spic and span clean, I'll tell ya. IMMACULATE...
Best deal on temple ball? Well, unless your going to Haarlem (in which case any of the Willie Wortel's will do you fine) go STRAIGHT to STIX! Do not pass go!
Tweede packaging? Believe it or not it was a 8 year old book of tabs I accidentally left in my journal - good thing, we never bought tabs and just grabbed a couple at each coffeeshop leaving a tip each time (would've been cheaper just buying a pack!).
Customs? Dogs aplenty if you have luggage checked in (both October '07 and February ) but that's just for herb I imagine (no weapons worries once you've landed!) Me? I've never taken anything back but memories and PLENTY of Cuban cigars! This trip was carry on only and they just waived us through without thought.
In FRONT of Basjoes - no construction... across the street (other side of Rusland) there was still a blocked construction site. Funny you mentioned it 'cause I remember sitting and enjoying the night and noticing how this blocked off area prohibiting my view SHOULD be a bother but somehow it felt OK? It was a zen moment on a VERY minute scale!
Soon as I settle into the new job we'll be back AND QUICK! For anybody considering a trip just GO GO GO and smoke a hasj phatty for me, will ya?

Hey Rob, I ALWAYS get my Cubans from P.G.C. Hajenius:
http://www.hajenius.com/
Cool old-school art deco building RIGHT on the Rokin (down the street a bit from the new Dungeon scare-ride). You'll see the dutch cigars (dry) sitting out and you'll have to be buzzed into the humidor room and ALL the killer cubans are there for you to touch and smell!
I still have shite-loads of cubans: pre-castro cubans, '70's, '80's r&j churchills, cuban davidoff's & dunhill's that I picked up during the cigar craze of the '90's (when the exchange rate was cheap and the cigars not yet inflated by russian & asian millionaires). I didn't think they'd turn out to be an investment!
Man, I'd LOVE to help you write your travelogue - only problem is that I could only do it "proper" if the wife and I tagged along your cup journey! Now THAT'S a calling - personal amsterdam correspondent!

What an excellent and comprehensive 'road trip' along the streets and shops of Amsterdam. We're going back to the Dam next month for a special birthday and your report has been the perfect aperitif before the main event.
We lived in Holland for a year in '86 and spent many a weekend in Amsterdam, but a lot of the coffeeshops in your report hadn't been opened at that time.
I hope I can offer a trip report with at least as many photo's, if not the great writing.
Cheers man. [/img]
