Thanks gang :D !!

Aslama vs. Mexi Maroc? Didn't pick up any Mexi last month BUT picked up Mexi Maroc aplenty back in February and October. LOVE the Mexi but the Aslama is cRaZy gooey, MUCH more caramel-ly then the Mexi. When I asked the dealer last month about the Mexi he pretty much said "why get the Mexi when the Aslama is SO much better for only a few euro more?". Now there may be some salesmanship going on here but, yeah, based on previous experiences he's probably right. The mexi maroc was more of a value at 15 e/g last time around but now that it's 18 e/g and the Aslama is still 22 e/g (I think, or was it 25?) it's worth a look at both!

excellent report dude, hit all the right spots, and has certaily whet my appetite even more for my trip in 2 weeks.

Just a quick question, i think someone mentioned it earlier, do Greenhouse Effect hotel customers get a discount on the bud bar aswell then? If youve got a minute id really appreciate any info on both the bar and bud discounts, as the website doesnt really go into detail.

Thanks again for the trip report, ill certainly be doing my own now when we get back

About that Greenhouse Effect discount...

Yeah, pretty mysteriouso on the website BUT it was 20% when we went. Laura, the receptionist, simply mentioned "discount" and the dealer specifically mentioned, when I asked the price, "8.5 euro, but it WOULD have been 10.5 euro without the discount"!

Enjoy, I'm ALREADY jonesin' for our next trip!

cheers mate, thats a right brucey bonus, they really should make more of a point of that on their website, im sure itd drum up a fair bit more business for them.

Also Ive emailed them, and asked about how the smoking ban has affected them, and the girl (alenka) said that pure or mixers were how they were operating, but didnt you infer they kinda turned a blind eye and you did a sneaky tobacco mix?

And while Im picking your brains, as I havnt spent any great length of time in the city (had 6 hours first time and popped in and out second time to pick up when staying in utrecht), and the fact that we only have three days this time, which coffeshops would you say we should have as "must visits"? Me and the missus are bud smokers only, and would prefer quieter chilled places (with good produce) so Im thinking we'll want to vacate the GHE/RLD pretty early. I know you spent a lot of time baked, as is to be expected :) but from what you recall where would you suggest?

Thanks in advance man

Greenhouse Effect ARE turning a blind eye, as of a couple of weeks back, but talking about it here isn't maybe the wisest thing... Alenka is the owner, btw, not just 'the girl'. Many more places seem to have given up policing things recently, it's worth noting. For example, yesterday I was in the Willie Wortels Indica shop. I asked him in Dutch whether it was ok to roll a joint in the shop? 'Natuurlijk' came the response. So I enjoyed a nice mixed joint with their 'Zilver Haze' in the ex-NS seats by the counter. Very nice it was too.

By the way, Greenhouse Effect have always given weed discount and happy hour prices on pints to hotel guests, for as many years as i can remember. However they are not allowed to advertise the fact - it is against the law as advertising cannabis products in any form is outlawed, even down to having the address or phone number on coffee shop lighters or other merchandise.

doog!

ahh, I see, yea that makes sense then, it seemed silly not to make a point of that, I forget these silly law things ;)

alenka seems really cool, answered all my emails very quickly with all the info ive needed, cant wait to get there and say hi in person and make use of that discount!

Thanks for the info matey

bigbud...

as for must visits, I believe there are many more qualified budhead opinions on this forum to go by and EVERYONE has their own favs. That being said...

GREEN PLACE on Nieumarkt, controversial and not the best place to hang but I found their bud to be near-perfect. Pricey but well worth it!

TWEEDE KAMER Love the bud, love the vibe - grab one of those uncomfortable stools next to the window without a view :D and enjoy the traditional dutch ambience! GREAT sativas, again not cheap.

GREENHOUSE EFFECT Hey, discount, DECENT bud and a GREAT atmosphere during the morning/day (as long as it's not too busy, anytime is nice). Grab the window seat if you can and marvel at the families passing by not paying any attention to the smokers.

GREY AREA Haven't gone in a couple of trips - limited hours and a distinctly "american" vibe (and I'm an American!) that's a bit "let's get wasted!" and this 40-something dude feels a bit OLD around them youngin's! However, the bud is notoriously top shelf both in strain selection as well as cure and quality of bud.

GREENHOUSE CENTRUM A RLD shop that we've ALWAYS found welcoming and always a good selection. A bit crowded most of the time (we use it as a stop and go) but a nice inside/outside place.

Hanging out? Find the place YOU like the most. You'll find the music, seating, view (or lack of), facilities (pool table, etc), decor to vary greatly shop to shop. Techno, lounge, dance, classic rock or reggae? Couch like seating or tables and chairs/stools? Bright and sunny or dark and bar-like? Modern or Dutch traditional? Loud with football on the telly or stonerville opium-den vibe? You'll know it when you encounter it...

Hey PrePress - love to hook up! We're thinking about New Years Eve (although apartments will be tough, we've seen openings at the NH City Centre) or early February (new job, no vacation time yet or it would be end of October for sure).

thanks buddy, that has just reaffirmed the choices id pretty much already made. So while we now have some definate targets :) i also hope to unexpectantly stumble upon my perfect place. To be honest, GHE has always been the place I go back to, i just love the vibe there, and Im looking forward to staying in the hotel, I just cant see the missus being happy getting up in the morning and then spending all day in there :)

ill let you know via my trip report how it goes down
