Kaiser Saucy wrote:trams are handy sometimes but also do some walking....the dam is small & it's a lovely looking, pedestrian friendly place to wander around, plenty of cool little bars, cafe's, shops, galleries, etc can be missed zipping around on trams all the time. Go and see vondelpark too, really nice place to trip or to have a quiet joint and escape the madness of the RLD or leidsplein for a while.

Have a good trip :D
Thanks Kaiser, plan on walking about alot, as long as the weather is good. what should i really expect as far as wether the first week in December?

The weather in Amsterdam around December - it will be pretty cold - I have found Decemeber the most magical time of year to go to the Dam - its nearly Christmas and Im in Amsterdam cant get much better than that. For me it is probably the closest you can come to recreating childhood - in the enetring a toyshop kind of feell. There is a good chance it will be quite icey.

OK, there are some shops for you and the wife, which are very very tourist friendly and wont try to rip you off, give you a bad advice or whatever:

Mellow Yellow - even though its a bit out of the centre (but not much, just take the Trams 16 or 24 and you will see the yellow building on the left side when coming from the centre, will take you 3-4 minutes by tram and about 5-10 by feet). I would really, really recommend you to wait and take the extra 5minutes to MY so it is your first shop.....I would have loved it if it had been my first shop, so I didnt buy so much other things......this shop is perfect for couples, its not as dark as many other shops, the weed is of the best quality you will find in Amsterdam and the dealers are always friendly (depends on who is there when you come, some of them dont speak perfect english and some do, but if you ask what to buy, they will always show you something amazing). as in another thread I will give you the advice to buy their Orange Haze for 11€, which would be perfect for your wife and the giggles ;)

Dampkring - this is the 2nd shop, or if you cant wait for MY then make it your first stop. they have 3 shops in Amsterdam and the dealers there have always been so helpfull. I remember once, there was a queu behind me of like 15 customers and the guy at the counter took his time to show me what I wanted to see and even showed me some of the gear he liked. They are the best for first-timers because they have experience with them :)

Visit those two shops, so you have a solid collection of high quality weed. After this, you can start exploring the city and the 1001 coffeeshops without having to worry not to have good gear on you :)

if you search for the taste (like me), Sage N Sour, Lavender or Oceans 12 Haze. If you want the giggles go for the Tasman or Mako Haze, both very uplifting :)
but the good with MY and dampkring is, you cant do a wrong buy.....everything on their menu is just great
