Actually, bro, I meant ISO oil, as in the only solvent used was 99.99% pure ISO, and then it is completely evaporated out of the oil. (NOT BHO cut with alcohol.) (If you do a "quick wash" with the ISO, so that only the THC, and very littlle of the other terpenes, etc, are extracted, then you get a very nice end product, once, the ISO is all evaporated.)

I agree, so few people do it right. I find that most people fuck it up, by either NOT getting all the solvent out and/or by using shitty quality solvents (i.e. those with more impurities / additives.)

The higher up you go in the alkanes (pentane, hexane, heptane, etc, )
the better the extraction, but some of these can be harder to obtain than butane AND getting nearly pure varieties, is another problem.

(Knowledge of some of the fundamental principles of chemistry and thermodynamics are a good thing when making oil. My view is that if a person does NOT have a good basic understanding of these issues, then they should NOT be making oil.)

, I prefer not to mess around with it. For me, it's way too much trouble to bother with oil.

you will have to do multiple extractions (i usually stick to 5x) and with an eighth or a quarter you should have no problems getting a gram. but again like this whole thread talks about be careful with oil because a little bit of it fucks you up fast and it lasts for alot longer than just bud.

If youre going with butane extraction, go here: http://www.keen-newport.com/ourBenchmark.htm. They only sell the purest of butane. They have their benchmark results published. They have their own brand (Newport), but they also sell Colibri (excellent) and vector I think. Leave the dirty butane for bar-b-q lighters.

These guys are inexpensive, and your health will thank you.

That Newport stuff is the cheap stuff in London - around £1.

just gonna let you kids know,,youve all seen mine....vector butane if ya can get it...ive tried all the others youve mentioned and vector blows em away....i would never bullshit on this subject cause it needs to be done right for your lungs and your safety....and for gods sake bring to a boil 10 times if ya need to..doesnt hurt and gives you a purer product...its worth a few xtra hours to do it right

dunno if this is a no brainer but here goes...
had my first experience of sticky terminator recently and apart from the fantastic mindfuck it gave me, i felt my lungs tighten up bad. never got this from the dry version, so is this poor production? or just the nature of the beast? cheers for any info.

the more refined the purer the product...also has a lot to do with the boilout ata the end...most of mthe stuff like that in adam is midgrade IMO so hence the lungs,,,

USBL and Gabby Johnson are right. residual butane can remain bonded in the goo. It doesn't form another molecule to my knowledge, but it can stubbornly take residence in your hash. Boiling off, and all the evap you can do is not only a great idea, it will save your health and life...and all it requires is a teensy bit more patience.

I know of a person (he lives in the country, so he can do this) who puts his evap dish outdoors in a good breeze to evaporate the major stuff, and swears it cuts the heated evap by half or more. The stir of the wind has some effect i suppose.

If youre an old farmer with an old car or 2 parked in the pasture, those are good final step evap places too. (note* never put a just extracted product into a hot environment like a car, unless schrapnel is your aim) When you think all the butane is completely gone, putting it in a place like that for a few hours will pretty much guarantee that any remaining liquid butane will have atomized. Since most of you dont have a collection of former autos, the boiling water method will work fine, and do it over and over till youre sick of it, and it should be pretty pure.

Don't get too stressed.
Butane and other volatile hydrocarbons are going to evaporate at the slightest hint of heat. Even if inhaled they are not toxic at the tiny doses one might conceivably inhale.
The lung pain and sickness are secondary to anxiety.
The anxiety is secondary to getting very fucking high.
Honey oil is very, very good.

sickness? only at the price maybe. also no lung pain, no stress or anxiety either fella, i fuckin love that high. what i got was a tightening of the lungs when coughing, not unlike the after effects of a bongfull (new collective noun maybe?) of low grade hash. three experienced smokers round the table, six tight lungs. i'll stick with the bong man on this one, cheers.
