Going tonight by boat for 2 days to view appartments so i can stay for 4 months..to get some work out there maybe a budtaster for the coffee shops 
Good luck with it. I hope to move to Holland one day too, got as far as checking apartments online, most single bedroom places were pretty upmarket and were around 6-800 pm, i saw a fair few 2 bedroom places at 800pm and house shares around 400 too. Im also sort of using my trip as an info gathering exercise, im going to check out the housing situation more, as i really fancied my own place rather than a sharing situation, but 400 would be my limit realistically, as the chances are it would be bar work or something that i landed.
I wouldn't really care about the work i did at first, as long as it paid enough to get set up there, that would be the main thing. Then i could get onto the language situation & make use of experience gained here.
