Quality Answer couldnt agree more!!!Boris wrote:sandinovive my friend, it appears that you have already booked your trip to the Dam so you can't back out now. I know I sound like an old fart here, but there are plenty of orther things you can do in Amsterdam to have fun, the Nemo centre is quite fun for young and old alike, or hire a bike, or pedelo around the canals.
Or (I'll probably get in to trouble for this one) save the money you were going to spend on pot, take a trip to the RLD and find the fittest babe there and and have the best 15mins of your young life![]()

Well i can definitely se why you think like that, there are so many people specially my age that are selfish idiots that don't care if their actions affect others. My plan is to try and get weed by ways that do not endanger the current law or the life of many coffeeshop owners. If i dont succeed then ill just have to enjoy a weed-less holiday. Ive been on holidays in which i haven't smoked weed and i guess the most important thing is to have decent company. I know being in Amsterdam and not smoking will hurt like hell, but i would rather the coffeeshops stay open and therefore be able to enjoy them in the near future.Sir Niall of Essex-sire wrote:Yea i suspose but my faith in man kind is not so strong as i belive that they will not attempt it if other ways fail. Or that they wont just do it as soon as they get there. I stick by my oringal statement that their acting in a selfish and inconsiderate way. Although i can totally understand their want to go and smoking some of the worlds best bud in amsterdam.Boner wrote: At least they've said they wont try and buy anything from the coffeeshops, which is the only real problem isn't it?
Although i understand it i dont support it and i will say to the same to any other underaged person who asks for advice on how to do it. 18+ only dont ruin it for the rest of us.
Cheers for the great advice!!!sandinovive my friend, it appears that you have already booked your trip to the Dam so you can't back out now. Gotta put my moneys worth onto the hat lol. So mainly to the original poster:
So, all 3 of you are booked and off reguardless of what is said. There is no point in saying not to go as it's already been said. But I fail to see how you can honestly say that all 3 sets of parents know you are going to Amsterdam and to smke cannabis. And there is next to no chance of all 6 parents\guardians being ok with what you are going to do.
What is obvious however is that neither of you have probably ever been abroad or abroad on your own before. Your age makes this a certain fact right!. So at the very least you are all going to be complete amatures in a foreign city and stand out just so much.
Have you guys even thought what a target for the hard drug users, muggers, conmen, pick-pockets ets you will be from the very second you get out of the train station?. Have you even got a hotel\hostel booked yet?. As someone correct me if I'm wrong or it's been mentioned in this thread before, but I think you will find it extremly hard to find anywere that will allow 3 under 18's to stay anywere on there own?. Got an adult to book your room\beds for you then eh?. Think again you will possably have to hand over your passport as security during your stay. Or at the very least you can be as near sure to 100% as you can possably get that any hotel\hostel\apartment owner\manager will want your passports off each of you to verify your i.d. and age. What are you going to do then when you or the card owner you may have got to book your ccomodation has invalidated the booking by declearing you are all over 18. Sure under 18's are allowed in very, very few hotels etc. But that is likely on the sole condition that there is also an over 18 with you.
So if you get past all that, probably highly unlikely, what the hell are you going to do when the guy you gave €50 to to nip in the coffeeshop to buy your gear does'nt come out, but has instead kept the money for himself?. Or even if his does a runner from you knowing the street as he would you'd never catch him!.
Not that I'm saying any of the above will happen to you or cause you problems of cause. Have a good trip and good luck, your going to need it!.

I would rather you didn't make assumptions about me. FOr your information I have been abroad on my own on many occasions. In the summer i went to Nicaragua (central America) and stayed with friends. I have been to Belgium to visit friends on my own on many occasion, i also live four months a year on my own as my dad works abroad 1/3 of the year. I actually have travelled to many countries, an approximate is to 18 countries (im not showing off im just responding to your assumption).Dave J wrote:Gotta put my moneys worth onto the hat lol. It is true that at the moment we do not have a reservation which we might regret but we are thinking of "orfeo" or "anemarie" which ive been told allow over 16 year olds to check in, i don't know if anyone knows if this is true???
Look i know it will be risky to give someone the money and expect them to buy the weed, but we have no choice if we want to go to amsterdam underage. It might end up being a really bad experience but i think it will teach us to be more responsible in the future.
I know youre just trying to give a responsible advice and I appreciate it. I also know that there are enormous risks as we are underage and we are going to try our best to stay safe and avoid any trouble.
I know we will probabily stand out, however i think the fact that we all act and look at least over 17 might help a bit.
Ah, I prehaps should have guessed that you may have flown alone but stayed with friends. But to be honest there is a hugh difference between simply flying alone and being met at the other end by friends and doing the entire trip and being by yourselfs once there. At least there are 3 of you going, so age aside you aught to be that little safer staying in a group.
yeah sounds like he has his head screwed on the right waygeoffk wrote:IMHO sandinovive sounds more responsible than a lot of "adults" I know.
Sandinovive since u posted that reply my opinion has changed i know that its easy to say that ur going to be responsible but i believe that ur being honest when u say that u have no intentions of fucking anything up for anyone
on that note all i can say is enjoy ur trip(if u do go)and i hope u don't have a bad experience
Babylon 'wan tief mi 'erb. But mi bun it bfoe dey come.
I think this debate proves something i've thought for a long time - that age restrictions don't work too effectively. It's a one-size fits all approach that doesn't always fit.
For example, one 16 year old can be really mature and responsible, wheras another can be quite immature and irresponsible.
The 16yr old lad up my road who throws stones at passing buses and draws grafitti tags on the lamposts is very different to the 16 yr old lad round the corner who has a part-time job and is a carer for his disabled mother.
A 12 year-old kid can go to see a 12 movie and have nightmares for weeks afterwards, whilst a 10 year old might see the same movie and be totally unaffected by it.
This also applies to alcohol - some 16/17 yr olds can spend an evening in a pub, have a few pints and be perfectly respectable, wheras others would abuse the locals, drink far too many spirits and throw up all over the place.
The same with cannabis - i was smoking it at 14 tbh but was quite responsible about it, but i remember others smoking so much and mixing it with alcohol and passing out.
Everything is relative - i realise that age restrictions are a neccessary catch-all but lets not go judging these 16/17 year-olds as if they're the same as the 16/17 year-olds we know/have experience of - everyone is different and their maturity and level of responsibility depends on many factors, not least their life experiences.

I have to say i agree with the comments above that you do sound like your got head in the place. About the dangers, you will probably be picked on bysome people but no more than in other cities. Just keep your wits about you and stay safe dude.
But you probably dont have anyone else who been underage to 'dam to learn from so i guess your options are limited in that regard. I would however recommend you sort out accomadation before you arrive, you dont want to be out on the streets.
Keep safe, and stay outta those coffeeshops man.
Theres a good saying that ' the difference between a wise man and a fool is a fool learns from his own mistakes a wise man learns from others.'sandinovive wrote: It might end up being a really bad experience but i think it will teach us to be more responsible in the future.

I couldn't agree more with this. It is horrible to be judged due to the actions of other idiots but it is understandable as such a large proportion of people my age actually act in a very imature and selfish way.Everything is relative - i realise that age restrictions are a neccessary catch-all but lets not go judging these 16/17 year-olds as if they're the same as the 16/17 year-olds we know/have experience of - everyone is different and their maturity and level of responsibility depends on many factors, not least their life experiences.
