it would sure seem everyone who visits there really enjoys the smoke lately. the funny thing is.. up until a few months ago.. i had never heard of the place. now it would seem everyone talks about it like the new grey area
yea, wierd, whats the history with The Green Place? Id never heard of it before planning our trip on the site a month or so before we went. Has it always been there but just got better? An old shop taken over? Brand new?

Thanks for the feedback people glad your enjoying it, I really enjoyed all the reports I read so I felt it was only fair to do one of my own for anyone else looking forward to their trip.

Ill try get the next one done tommorrow. Well today, you know wat i mean

Day 3

Good morning, we’d like to welcome you to COUGH CITY!

I woke up needing to relieve myself of at least 3 litres of water I had drank the night before in attempt to sooth my throat and chest. I had a look at the trusty old Nokia (which by the way was typically still at full battery even though it hadn’t been charged since two days before we left just because we pissed about at the last minute getting a plug converter for the chargers) which told me it was 6:01and far too early for waking up accidentally to be a good thing. I went and took care of business, and laid back in bed, but my chest was so tight that it was quite hard to breathe and a little disconcerting . It was also very tickly and I was coughing enough to wake the missus up.

After heaving up a few chunks of the good stuff I felt better and dropped back off, not waking again ‘til our scheduled up time of 9:30. We awoke to another excellent sunny Amsterdam morning, and whilst I couldn’t help feel a pang of sadness due to this being our last day, I also felt grateful for a nice start to it. The good times didn’t last long however, as after another coughing session I pressed the flush on the toilet and it depressed and did nothing. Gutted. Stuff breaks on me CONSTANTLY. After a bit of D.I.Y plumbing I got it to flush so we could still use it, but the mechanism was absolutely destroyed, which meant that whenever we wanted to flush it we had to take the top off and mess about, and then put it all back together but hey ho needs must. Needless to say it became a drag that night.

We went down for our last breakfast and found the area packed full of people. It must have been because it was a Friday and there were new arrivals here for the weekend. The hotel full sign was up, so the GHE room cleaning staff were in for a busy weekend. We did our bit for them by leaving our do not disturb sign up every day and just grabbing some towels off them. Every morning Kel heard them pottering about outside and the girl who was due to clean ours saying “yes! I got a do not disturb!“

We managed to perch on the edge of a table and I had the usual, croissant, massive meat cheese and veg sandwich, apple juice, coffee and a big fat spliff. And then another. We started on the K2 today, our only real not couch locky smoke. That’s the first job then, grab some nice sativa for the start of the day. The K2 was a very clear happy high, which makes it a great wake and bake, Id definitely recommend it for that purpose. Also hash fans will love this strain, as I said in yesterdays report the aftertaste was definitely hash like. I could also taste a lot more of its lemony taste with a clean palette, smoke wise at least.

We had gone down to the front of the bar to smoke, as people were eating and its never nice choking on second hand smoke whilst having your boiled eggs first thing. We were deciding what to do today, and I suggested the zoo, so we made use of the free internet to check the prices and weather forecast. Constant rain from lunchtime onwards, lovely. That’s that out the window then, I’m not paying 20 euros and then getting pissed on all afternoon. I like animals as much as the next man, but I’m not that committed. Anyway, after finding that sandwich shop yesterday I had a date planned with a chicken and a pig later on, that’ll do for me.

Kel hadn’t been to Dam before, and she wanted to see “the hoes” as she so eloquently put it. I said cool, we’ll go through the RLD on the way to the Green Place. “What, they’re going to be working at half past 11 in a morning?” she questioned. I thought she’d have understood by now how the city works, but obviously not. The standard of product on offer in the RLD was better than I remember before, I was actually quite impressed this time. We did the whole touristy thing, walking through trying not to get caught looking, sniggering like school kids at the old folks on their saga weekend away with fully disgruntled, disapproving, slightly disbelieving looks on their faces.

Quality specimens aside, I still don’t know how you could do it. Don’t get me wrong, its not a moralistic thing at all, each to their own and all that, I just think maybe I’m too reserved/shy and even if I was single I wouldn’t have the wherewithal to partake.

Anyway onwards up to Nieuwmarkt. We went straight to the Green Place, and the bud tender instantly recognised me and asked what I thought to the gear I got yesterday which I always find is a nice touch. I told him how impressed I was, with both the LA Con and Blueberry Cheese, and grabbed some more of the latter, as well as asking my new best bud tender in town what else I should try, something nice and fruity and with a clear high like the K2 Id got from the GHE. He had a little think and suggested the super super silver haze. I told him id been disappointed with the super silver haze id had yesterday from the Dampkring and he said you wont be disappointed with this. Well that’s good enough for me squire, you saw me right yesterday, Ill trust you today. Well, maybe Ill just have a little look. I needn’t have. It was perfect. Sticky, crystallized like a mother and very fruity.

The Green Place

1g Blueberry cheese - 13e
1g Super Super Silver Haze (sssh) - 12e

I also grabbed two cokes and as we were a bit earlier today and the sun was a little higher in the sky, we went and sat outside on The Green Place frontage. I had my customary examination of the SSSH, and noted it was hyper crystally, and very very fruity in the bud and after grinding. I was apprehensive as I wrapped and tentatively sparked it as the SSH Id had the day before was very harsh, and with my lungs reaching DEFCON level 6 today it wouldn’t take much to set me off spluttering all over the passing locals clogs.

None of that with this stuff though, it was a treat to smoke, although not very flavoursome considering the fruitiness pre ignition. The high crept up on me slowly, but was what id describe as a very high quality, clear high. Top stuff again from The GP, if not very tasty. [disclaimer: this could have been my taste buds deteriorating and my cold/flu/bronchitis hiding the flavour, you all know what day 3 in Dam is like taste wise]

After a spliff or three of the new gear we went down to the supermarket just past Hill St Blues to grab more munchies satisfying snacks. Nothing new or exciting to report, just the usual chocolate and crisps, but more bugles this time after our snack epiphany yesterday. Laden with carrier bags full of junk food and water, we made the 5 or 10 minute walk back to the room to dump it all. It was already getting on, for 2pm, and we wanted to get back out for lunch, but there’s just something about the combination of a bed, a TV and weed that I find irresistible, and without really meaning to before I knew it I was in my sleeping shorts watching Animal 24:7 and rolling a joint of the SSSH with a bag of bugles on my knee. How the hell did that happen! Of course, one leads to another and it was gone 3 by the time we braved the now constant drizzle and headed back to Croissanterie D’oude Brug (found the name on me notepad).

I was all psyched up to ask for a Broodje + Moken, but when the assistant came over I shat my pants and asked for a chicken and bacon instead. I’m thinking about maybe learning some basic Dutch for next time, just phrases you’ll use all the time like “Can I have a…” but that kind of thing can always lead to embarrassing situations where they reply with something Dutch that you cant even begin to understand, and that might be worse than just being ignorant and asking in English, not sure. Even after yesterdays example of sandwich perfection, this was something special. I was in shock for ten minutes afterwards, and was blatantly annoying Kel by going on and on about these sandwiches in a rambling stoner way, saying things like “How could it be better than yesterday..” and “Shit Kelly, we might have to move here, fuck the weed I just want to eat these 5 times a day” I do love my food.

After the customary post dinner nap t was time for a stock check, and after an inspection of the stash found that we had a little bit of the SSSH left, that had gone very quickly, a couple of spliffs of cheese, plenty of K2 a bit of Blueberry Cheese, a bit of the harsh SSH, a couple of spliffs of LA Con and one of Northern lights. It was getting on for 6pm and although there was sooooo much more weed I wanted to try I knew my lungs couldn’t take it and we were up for the flight in 12 hours time. No! That’s not long enough! We went out for milkshakes from Mcdees and spliffs in the square, with each joint now being crammed with a mixture of everything except the LA Con which I was saving for before bed, as the night before it just straight up strapped me hard to the mattress and made me want to sleep.

Man I was caned now. Very stoned and happy indeed, and after the strawberry milkshake was gone I was hungry, again. I had to go get another burger King while I was still on holiday and allowed to be a fat greedy pig bastard. In my stoned oblivious state I forgot to order Kellys food with my order, how bad is that? She only wanted a large fries, and I naively offered to go grab some, but as if a women would ever let you correct a mistake she can possibly crucify you for for the next 4 days, and instead I “decided” just to let her pilfer some of mine. I suspected I might be going on another late night solo food gathering mission that night, unless I could get us both so stoned that we cant move or talk, yep, that sounds like a plan.

We got back to the apartment at about 8ish, and the next and last thing I have written on my notes is, FINISH IT! The rest is a bit of a blur, I remember setting my alarm straight away before the carnage ensued, and threw a few things in my bag so that I wouldn’t forget them. Then it was on with the job at hand, smoke everything we had left.

I remember we were smoking pretty much back to back til about 1am. I remember rolling a hell of a lot anyway, and I do recall the last of the LA Con going down a treat. The penultimate joint ended up getting binned the next morning, it had the last of the harsh SSH in and just a collection of “dirties” from the bottom of my big stash bag, and that’s all we didn’t smoke so I was very happy with my performance considering I wasn’t 100%.

I was also very proud of Kelly, she hammered it that last night, smoking nearly as much as me in our quest to nail it all. Her tolerance had obviously been growing all week, and she went for it like a right little trooper. As soon as she passed me the last LA Con joint back, she put her head back and was gone, that stuff was great, lovely tasting and a brilliant bedtime smoke. I like the couch lock stone of a good indica, especially if I’m watching a film or something, and just wish I could get this stuff over here, its quality.

After another coughing session in the toilet, and heaving the top off of the bloody thing for the umpteenth time, I laid there on my own, happy to have finished the assault on my lungs, and proud to have made it. Just laying there thinking about how great it had been, and how much I love the place. Certainly my most enjoyable trip to Dam ever, and I was really gutted that I hadn’t tried everything I wanted to. But there’s always next time. And as I drifted off to sleep on a wave of Cheese and LA Confidential, I remember thinking with a wry smile that on the plus side at least I hadn’t ended up having to descend Everest and try and find some chips for the missus.

Brief conclusion of smokes, shops and everything else tomorrow.

Matt

Wow, makes good reading. I remember when I was a bit poorly in Dam a while back and couldnt really hack loads of smoking I bought some space cakes, and they work nicely, although I never find the coffeeshom ones as strong as the ones I bake

Bored at work and Just read all 3 day reports in one go - a marathon effort but well worth it.!

Really enjoyed the report and will find it useful as i'm back over there in a cupla weeks (Green Place duly noted as are LA Conf and that sarnie place!).

A few questions, if i may?

Did you smoke all that stuff pure or with tobacco?
Why no hash? or was that to protect the throat?

From one Matt to another, I salute your report-writing efforts!

If you're under the weather in Amsterdam, I find that "Fisherman's Friend" cough drops are, well, your friend.

Thanks for the great read.
