Really enjoyed the report and will find it useful as i'm back over there in a cupla weeks (Green Place duly noted as are LA Conf and that sarnie place!).

A few questions, if i may?

Did you smoke all that stuff pure or with tobacco?
Why no hash? or was that to protect the throat?

From one Matt to another, I salute your report-writing efforts!
Thanks for taking the time matty, glad you enjoyed it and it was some help to you.

I dont smoke pure, I prefer the taste with a little tobacco, and also find that it burns and smokes a lot better mixed. Generally I grind and drop a layer on the bottom of my paper, then a thin layer of tobacco on top, and another grinder full on top. Give it a little mix and off we go.

Also, Ive never been a fan of the hasj, unless its good quality, and theres a lot of rubbish knocking about dam. Also, me not being a conoisseur of resins I would find it hard to know what is good and bad, and when your smoking on a budget (and rotting lungs) you cant afford to be wasteful. With the green, I know what I like and what to look for, and can therefore smoke only the best quality.

Thanks again and enjoy the trip

matt

thanks for the reply. I totally agree with you, i like a bit of baccy to improve the smoke/burn - probably a bit more than you cause the Dam 4 or 5 times a year is the only time i smoke. As for hash, i was in a similar boat as you before i tried the Temple balls hash from Stix - amazing stuff - try some next time you're over there - you'll be converted! (But make sure it is from Stix - Barneys and a few others do a way inferior version)

I was going to ask for Lemming to make this a sticky thread. Then I realised what it would imply, so I won't, but it made me laugh.

Smoke report and conclusion

Super Silver Haze - Dampkring

A similar high to the nycd, although nowhere near as profound. Smelled lovely almost lemony in the bag, and after grinding, but when smoked it had what I can only describe as a “Strawy” or “Hayie” taste, very strange.

Northern Lights - Home Grown fantasy

Not an enjoyable smoke to be honest but jeepers it sat me back in my chair. I expect an earthy taste with NL but this was ridiculous. However a great example of an indica high, it was far stronger than the last batch I had which in contrast tasted better but was considerably less powerful, in fact I only bought it this time as a steady daytime smoke, what a shock!

NYC Diesel - GHE

Wow. My first buy of the week and what a first buy it was. VERY strong, with a nice headrush, and a warm and fuzzy feeling following. A very smooth and clean smoke, with a nice fruity flavour, this had me talking a LOT and smiling loads too. Highly recommend this strain for morning smoking, great way to start the day. Also good to combat any couch lock brought on by too much Indica, a couple of tokes of this and you are ready for action again!

Cheese - GHE

Not quite as fresh as Id have liked, but nice big buds all the same. Nice musky smell, and a nice tingly stone. Not brilliant but nowhere near bad.

K2 - GHE

Super crystally, light green compact buds, with such a fruity smell. A very happy clear high, very uplifting without the headrush of the diesel, which can be a bit much at times. Gives way to a nice chilled out stone after a while. That’s why this became our favourite wake n bake smoke, uplifting, but in a gentle relaxing way. Tastes a lot like hash.

La Confidential - TGP

Without a doubt the finest Indica I’ve ever had. Nice smooth smoke I’ve written down.
Always had this towards to the end of the day , and Jesus h flipping Christ, I’ve never slept better. This shit absolutely knocked me out, but before it did, things got a bit trippy. My tongue felt like it was stuck to my top teeth when it blatantly wasn’t, and my toes felt like they were moving when they were still! Crazy! I wouldn’t recommend this to a newbie smoker as stuff like that would spook you a bit I imagine. Cant recall the exact taste, I know it was lovely, but by the end of the day the old taste buds arent very reliable anyway.

Blueberry Cheese - TGP

Here are my exact notes…
Lovely smell, heady high, nice fruity smell, mmm fruity, nice buds, so nice and smelly. So from that I gather that it was quite nice and quite smelly! It was a beautiful example of bud, sticky, crystallized, fresh, smelly, tasty, with the fruitiness of the blues and the funkiness of the cheese being a perfect combo. Smooth, uplifting high, with a chilled edge, its quite hard to describe. Not debilitating at all but relaxing, and not trippy or rushy but very happy and euphoric, a quite brilliant experience.

Super Super Silver Haze -TGP

Not especially tasty but a quality clear mind opening high, and very crystallized buds. Fruity in the bag, like the standard SH, but again, not so much when smoked, although this tasted far superior to the SH which was quite frankly unpleasant to smoke. A better version I suppose, hence the name.

In Conclusion

What a great trip. Yes I was ill, and I didn’t smoke as much as Id have liked, but I smoked as much as I could and for the first time I went to Dam with an idea of what I wanted to try, which is a great idea. There were 15 varieties that I really wanted to try and didn’t get round to, but Ive booked our next trip for march so ill slay those beasts next year.

Im glad I found The Green Place, which was my favourite coffeeshop of the trip. It’s a nice place to sit outside, has a great selection of absolutely top quality buds, a friendly budtender and a tobacco smoking area. In general, the Nieuwmarkt area was my favourite place to chill, either at TGP or outside Hill st. blues, just watching the world go by and getting ripped. Man I cant wait ‘til March already.

Here are my top 3 smokes of the trip, in ascending order, as is the norm with results situations…

In 3rd, L.A Confidential. - Great smoke as Ive said above, but just not quite my favourite as I feel I really couldn’t do much after having it.

In 2nd, NYC Diesel. - My perfect sativa, does everything I want out of a daytime active smoke. I was so happy after just a couple of tokes, and couldn’t stop smiling and talking. Only in second as the taste wasn’t outstanding, unlike the champion of the week…

In 1st, Blueberry Cheese. - I know blueberry and cheese are hardly groundbreaking or original, but this was just perfect all round. Couldn’t improve on it. Taste, smell, looks, high, were all perfect. I just hope its as good or better next time round. I am a bit of a sucker for the old Blues, but this strain just takes it to a new level, the cheese high and blueberry high just seem to be the perfect bedfellows, and I implore anyone who likes a fruity weed and euphoric but also chilling high to sample this from The Green Place.

Id just like to finish by saying thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to read my report, and to all the regular posters on this forum, as it has made my Amsterdam experiences FAR FAR better than they would otherwise have been. It’s a great resource, and a brilliant community and I really do thank you all and hope that I can give something back in the future.

All the best, and happy smoking!
