El Torro in Utrecht

I just found out today that the deal has finally gone through. The owner of The Noon and Mellow Yellow now also owns El Torro, Oude Gracht 78. I was told that the menu will be similar to the other 2 shops; ie Super Silver Haze, Blueberry, etc.
The current opening time is 1200. That will be changing to 0900 or 1000 opening and the name may change as well to Noon 2.

I think this will be a very positive change for the coffeeshop and for Utrecht. Peace.

Interesting, Utrecht needs a place with a better menu now Sarasani has gone.
That said the current owners of El Torro make a damn good coffee and the amnesia is always well cured and trimmed.
When will the change take place?

The sunken canals are enough to make Utrecht worthy of a visit.

The change was beginning to take place yesterday evening. They were planning on who was going to work there, the changes that would be made, etc. I doubt this will all happen at once, as the owner is sometimes a little slow to implement changes. But I'm sure he will want to get it done very soon. Peace.

I found out over the weekend that El Torro now carries the strain S5. This strain was twice a 1st place winner, also placed 3rd once and was overall winner of the Highlife Cup 2008. I had the pleasure of sampling it and must say that it is a
very nice smoke.

Another haze to brighten your day.

Peace.

I havent had the pleasure of visiting the shop yet, aaron. I will give my opinion once I have seen it. It sure didnt look like much from the outside but the new owner will probably change that.

Peace.

BUMP! as I know theres a few people who like Utrecht on here:
Building work is in full swing but dont be put off by the guys hammering and sawing near the door, the shop is open (looks like it may be a while before its fully refurbished though, they appear to be gutting it!).
Pretty claustraphobic with the builders so I didnt stay, new staff friendly and polite and menu one of the best in this city. I worked my way through most of it and wasnt dissapointed by anything, but the prices are higher than other shops in the city. Quite a few hazes on the menu aswell.
This is a good thing for Utrecht sine Sarasani closed, and anybody who has been here before will see a significant improvement since the new owners took over. I just hope a smoking room is included in the refurb
Thanks to Puffin for the heads up & Lem feel free to update the entry on the main page with this if you like.
and Merry Christmas all!
