Hi all,
I'm visiting Amsterdam with a friend, this weekend. And we are planning to spend saturday afternoon on a coffeshop.
Can anyone recommend a coffeeshop which is:
Relaxed, no loud music, have a nice location (perhaps a nice outdoor sitting area, whare you can watch people go by or near the canals) who has a decent menu and also serves a good cup of coffee?
From what I have read, Mellow Yellow is a great place, but how is the location? I like to have something to look at, when stoned
Thanks al, for creating a great forum!
Have a nice evening
Cheers
Jakob

As long as the construction has gone, anyone confirm this?

Mellow yellow is a nice place to chill but there is no view realy but still a good CS.
There is plenty around that are on canals if you have a look on the map.
Enjoy

I didn't like the location of the Mellow Yellow that much. It's in front of a street with a lot of traffic, no place to sit outside, and nothing to watch. Although it's said to have a great menu.

I am yet to have gone to Amsterdam but from reading a shit load of reveiws i think Hill Street Blues is situated near a canal, with a possible sitting window on the 2nd floor! dont quote me on this but it may have!
have fun mate

Siberia and Bas Joes are good suggestions. Also see Piscasso's for a really chill spot.

Nothing to watch? There are many fine women walking by constantly.

There is a big screen plasma tv, if youre into that. There use to be tables and chairs
outside but due to the North/South metro line and the remaking of the street, it is not allowed anymore. There is only a park bench outside now. Peace.

Mellow Yellow does have nice welcoming atmosphere. I'll spend more time there next trip for sure. Katsu has a nice window on a pedestrian only street. You can sit at a large communal table and people watch all day. There is a nice park just down the street too. I'm still going with Siberie though for the best canal views from a coffeeshop. I think they might have put a baccy smoking area next to the window if you're into that.

Thanks guys
I think we'll try Siberie first, and then later drop by Mellow Yellow!
Can hardly wait... It's been quite a while, since I last enjoyed Mary J

Yeah Siberie is a great choice. Was pretty cool and relaxing there. When I was there there was a woman who looked old enough to be my grandmother sitting enjoying a spliff and reading book. They also have a webcam there so folks back home can check you out.

Dutch Flowers or Amnesia has everything you asked for. The others listed don't.

I agree and Dutch Flowers doesn't have a good reputation as being the most friendly place either.
