agreed,
ive always found smoking weed is something that i can only enjoy when im in a good frame of mind. its definatly something i couldnt turn to when im pissed off. unlike alcohol.
if ive had a barney with my girlfriend, i could sink a pint or two quite happily. but smoking a spliff would only make me feel bad.
I remember getting really paranoid after smoking a combination of Amnesia Haze from Hunters, Golden Soles and Schroom from Grey Area..I had that scary have to get back to my hotel room feeling. It was may of last year..

I agree, the most important thing is your frame of mind. But I have always found that Sativa dominated strains are a lot 'racy-er' than indica and that 'flighty-ness' to my stone can induce paranoia. I find a good indica gives me no opportunity to get paranoid as I am too busy just being utterly trashed.
Best advice would be to leave the hybrids alone and stick to the more 'natural' buds. A lot of the 'bush weed' (African, Jamaican, Thai etc) are grown wild and organically... Or some greenhouse grown weed like Purple Star... A nice gentle Moroccan hash might just do the trick nicely without any 'roller-coaster' rides.
(I think this is the perfect illustration of why cannabis should be legislated against in the UK. It is tragic that there is no choice about the strength and type of cannabis you can buy and smoke.)
I find that having a few pints with a smoke always seems to take the edge off the paranoia, however i would'nt recomend this for beginers as you'll just end up wasted and on a whitey.
you can see from the mixture of replies a lot of para is down to state of mind. I've had terrible para when walking in a dark place late at night, to combat it I've tried to accept what's going on and let my mind run wild. It's a hard thing to do but if you focus on relaxing and letting go with the situation it does help to alleviate the bad feelings
As most have said it depends on your state of mind and surrounding. Although I think strong sativa's are more likely to get you paranoid. Remember Sativas amplify what is already in you and reduce your inhibitions both in terms of behavior and line (Lines if its strong enough) of thought. My advice ask for something that gives a stone as opposed to high, avoid haze strains. Take your time on the joint and see how it effects you, that way if you sense its not the effect you like you can stop before it gets to much.
I never used to get paranoid when I first started smoking and this lasted for 3 years of constant and heavy use, then a few things happened and smoking weed was no longer a pleasure.
