Pot Paranoia, I need your suggestions!

I love a good smoke, but some strains of weed can send me on a paranoia trip so I have to be careful.

Does anyone have any recommendations on what weed would suit me or what I should avoid etc :?

In England we don't really have much choice in what we buy, so every purchase is a gamble.

Hopefully in Amsterdam this won't be the case...

Thanks

You can't just say indica or sativa. I've had some sativa that made me trip (Kali Mist) and others that haven't (Silver Haze). Cheese or Blueberry are two mellow indicas while Black Widow I found to be slightlly trippy.

Are you absolutly sure it's the strain of weed you smoke that causes the paranoia or the frame of mind you are in at the time.
I guess you can compare it to an acid trip, you don't buy a bad trip, a trip is what you make it and depends on the environment you're in and the people you are with at the time. To a lesser extent the same can be said when you have a toke.
All the best

This is true to a point, but different strains do have different effects.

I dont think anyone can honestly suggest anything to smoke or avoid as thc affects everyone differently, my best suggestion would be to stick to weaker strains like Orange Bud or maybe even smoke something with some thai in it?

i believe this to be very accurate (10 year toker here). i was going to say that it is all in the frame of mind you have. yes some buds are stronger/trippier than others, but if you are in the right mindset then you always know u only feel paranoid bec of the buds and everyone really IS NOT staring at you  IMO if you always have that in the back of ur head you can enjoy the high and not be bugged out, peace.

I just find that when ever i have a more Indica strain i start to stay sitting and thinking more.Which IMO helps bring on the paranoia.
When i have more sativa or haze dominant strains i do less sitting and thinking with more moving around. This i feel stops the paranoia as i am doing things instead of sitting and thinking.
Of course the effects will differ with the person involved but this is just my personal opinion.
I do tend to just smoke anything though as i have never had a problem with paranoia. :D
Nice1

Thanks everyone, pretty useful info from all. But what about dutch hash ?...

Never tried it before cause most of the stuff over here is terrible unless your willing to pay a ridiculous price etc.

do you mean nederhasj or just hash you can buy in the Dam? id say the answer is the same, different hashes have different effects, some are real powerful some are not but keep a good frame of mind and youll be alright, peace.

Identify the strains yer gettin back home that don't make ya paranoid and work from that. Paranoia is an individual thing, so also try and work out if there are any set circumstances that help bring it out and avoid them...or deal with them, with some qualified help. I personally think it's better to sort out what's making you paranoid, rather than just smokin the weed that doesn't bring it out.

I find pure sativas can induce paranoia if your not doing anything, jst blazing away in a coffeeshop. Have a book with you to read, or something similar to occupy your mind, and that should help

This is pretty good advice, just buy weaker strains down the menu. I'd follow it, if I had the same concerns you do.

Most of my bad experiences have been caused by skunk, & the same goes for many of my freinds.

I will also agree it usually depends on your frame of mind & surroundings at the time etc.

I even had a theory that weeds containing pesticides were more likely to cause these problems in people than organically grown produce. And I'm still very convinced!

When I was doing a lot of LSD, I used to think that there might have been additives or that the LSD's chemical composition had broken down and therefore caused me to get a little "uncomfortable". I tried some acid for the first time in 10 years and had the most positive trip of my life. I think I had just reached a period in my life where I could enjoy a trip much more with any hang ups.

So, back to your question; maybe you want to ask the budtender for a nice clear-headed and focused high. Most budtenders should be able to help you help. Although I asked the budtender at Club Media for the most sativa on the menu and he stared at the menu for a long time without saying a word. I finally said "how about the Silver Haze" he just said "OK". Nice guy, he was just really baked. Sorry for the ramble.
